I was looking through some of the paperwork that came with the car, It appears that the 4 new disks that were in the boot when i bought it, came from this forum as a group buy, sometime in 2015.
So this car may have been owned by a previous forum member. Although I have his name its on all the invoices, I do not have his forum name,it would have been interesting to see what his experiences were when owing the car. However this may be a private matter so will leave it at that.

Maybe you could get in touch with the people on here that ran the group buy via PM?

I had 5 liters of R40 and gave it to my son a couple of years ago for putting a drop in the fuel for his Rally Car for the smelling pleasure of spectators :)
I have a number of litre bottles of old-dated castor oil (BMW Spec) that I used when racing. PM me if you want some.

Have had the brakes sorted I am not sure how this compares to other members outgoings so will give a quick rundown. New (red) pads on all wheels £195. New shoes, rear £44. New rear handbrake cable £87. New disks on all wheels Free! as they came with the car! (Although the old ones were ok, but decided to put them on anyway rather than just sitting in the garage) Labour/Fitting £360
Total £686.
Will be going to collect this afternoon so will see if the poor handbrake holding is sorted.

Well have the car back hanbrake hmm so so a bit better, but i doubt it would hold on a steep hill, give it up as a lost cause I think

Yes - you'll get good at left foot braking hill starts - and I keep a block of wood in the car, just in case despite always leaving the car in gear when parked.
Its a bit disapointing throw money at it to sove a problem, and find your just wasting your time,I cant say I have ever liked leaving a car in gear,I know with the Maserati its the done thing but still, do not like it.
At least it does not roll out of the garage as it was doing, as there is a slight inclined , so I suppose that the handbrake holds a bit, is a small bonus!

In years gone by I had 3 TRs one after the other, the last one was a TR5.

All those cars had chrome wire wheels, I just like the look of a car with wire wheels.

And it got me thinking My 4200 spyder would look fantastic with chrome wheels,I have not seen any 4200 with them on.

After all if an E-Type can have them, why not a Cambiocorsa

So I made enquiries as to if possible, and at what cost.

Well the good news yes its possible, but cost wise its £2304 per wheel!

Ah well keep dreaming lol.

TR5, very rare and desirable.
I think the Rostyle wheel trims are worth a fortune for a TR5, seem to remember.

Beautiful car, and welcome to the group!
You have, as we have said many times before, found one of the best kept secrets in the automotive world.
A 4200 Spyder is not for everyone, but for those of us who love them, few cars are as thrilling as these.
I think 13 years of Spyder ownership might explain Benny's lack of social skills. ;)

Thanks Oishi, Can I ask you, or the group about spare wheels?

I cant say I am enamoured with the compressed can idea, i can get an emergency wheel/tire ,am I right in thinking that the difference in sizes from front to back on these cars is tyre size?

So an emergency wheel /tyre would fit all of the wheels? Any thoughts are much appreciated!

PS Benny is fine, its just the worry of Maserati ownership over the years eventually reduces you to a shambling wreck! it will happen to all of us, c'est la vie!

I thought about a spare wheel for my Spyder but abandoned the idea mainly because transporting the damaged one would be impossible/very difficult, especially if I had a passenger (and I'd rather have several shoes - but that's another story ;) )

I have just found the thread about spare wheels, I think i will just carry a jack and puncture repair kit, the one you plug the hole with, and a can of sealent, if that does not work.
(I'd rather have several shoes) This shoe fetish is this something you had before you bought a Maserati or after? should i be worried that this development can affect owners? Hmm.....

Check the plug kit comes with a sharp knife. Mine didn't so added a craft knife to the kit. When questioned by customs on whether I had any sharp knives on departure from Plymouth at the start of VEOB I had to confess that I did. Unfortunately it was buried with the puncture repair kit in the well below the boot, and therefore below all the luggage too.

They let me keep it if I promised that I wouldn't run amok slashing anyone with it...

So true Oishi, but it is a bit strange, where on one hand car ugly cars such as the 'Boat tailed Porsche' that I would not give a second glance, can get premium money, wheras the 3200 and 4200 dont.
But hey! I get to drive a stunning car,a real head turner for the price of a Ford Fiesta! so who cares!
