This guy must be getting pretty excited with all the interest in his advert.

I was amused by cat C turning into cat D. Or maybe it was a D and was then written off again?

God there some muppets out there...What happened to the education system in the 1990's!

You only have to go into Sainsbury's for ten minute's...some of these 20/30 year old sprog's can't even speak correctly, no wander they can't find any employment...expect for the local warehouse maybe!

In the true spirit of the internet, any post correcting another post will contain errors. *cough* apostrophes, *cough* wrong word (twice) ;)

It's a unique car as it self-repairs; at line 5 it's a Cat C, but by line 12 it's a Cat D. It just needs a matching nearside headlight to finish and it'll be concours.

Holy **** that's terrible

Recently, i bought a RHD 3200GTA in Frankfurt.

Same style, bad grammar, difficult communication over the phone as well.
Somehow i got the feeling that it would still be worthwile making the trip and get a look myself. ( I just wanted it for parts, as a RHD is very hard to sell at the mainland)
But indeed, in most cases an add like this is a definite "no go"

After meeting the guy, it turned out to be an honest one, telling way to much details for his own good, only having difficulty with his german language.
The seller did lose a lot of money to several firms that "tried" to do several repairs on the car and in the end, he only wanted one thing: getting rid of the car.

BTW; The last repair center he brought his car to, told him the engine was shot.
That was concluded, because the starter motor only turned very difficult for one or two seconds, pulling lots of current, then everything got stuck.
As i found out when i was there, the engine did not get stuck, but the starter motor did!
They charged him 6800 euro's, for exchanging the engine.
As he could not believe the engine was shot from one moment to another, he asked for a second opinion form a Maserati dealer.
They confirmed, the original engine was still there, nothing was exhanged.
Drama ended in a lawsuit, wich ended well for him, and after that, the owner just wanted to leave everything behind him.

Best conditions all in all, buying a parts donor for small money.
The engine runs again with the help of a new startermotor and...of course... a contactless throttlebody and a pining sensor, but there ares some issues still.
I will post about that later on.

Contacted the vendor via email this morning.
I asked exactly where he was so I could view.
He replied in text format saying he was in Eaglescliffe a small annex to Stockton as shown on ebay and 'where was I coming from?'
I don't know whether to reply again, I am not serious about the purchase but curious as to the nature of the punter selling it.
I wqas curious because when I saw it advertised I had just received notice that my£15000 ISA had matured and they would kindly give me 1.2% to stay with them!
Perhaps I should keep below the battlements

Good for him and good for you mate!

See my Project 3200 thread for fun with starter motors etc but would love to see a build thread for yours Luuk.

Thanks Phil.

Your 3200 project allready took my attention, great topic.
However, my UK 3200 will not be converted to LHD, as i planned before.
Despite the good condition of the car, too much parst differ to make conversion worthwhile.

But the low milage,56 k miles, makes me want to solve the engine problem.
A good 3200 engine should be worth something.

Main problem: noisy valve train, due to a strange wear problem at the valve clearance caps.
They show strange "star like" wear spots, as if tiny partikles of metal where lost there.
There was enough oil, oil pressure is ok, but something is wrong with the camshaft lobes/ caps.
Do you know of any camshaft problems in a 3200 engine?

Nope never heard of any lobe issues. I've heard of it on other performance cars like Audi RS4 (cam lobe case hardening) etc but nothing specific to the 3200 engine which are generally pretty bullet proof. The problem is you don't know the service history and if there has been any oil feed problems or wrong oil used. These engines are so sensitive to oil types and viscosities.

Good luck with the fix and I hope that it's not too costly.

If you are not serious about the purchase then you shouldn't contact or meet the guy, you're just wasting his time.

If however you are considering buying, well then you've a decision to make.

It needs a new key and a rear wheel bearing now. Thats just put me right off now. The pictures are great. Upside down, sideways and i like the reg blocked on the rear shot but in clear view from the front. I can see it ending up as a parts car on the near future.
