I 'm sure by removing a main muffler on the car will make it louder... It made a Hugh difference on my R35 GTR :)
Have you had one fitted Simon? If you're not happy with it you could always sell it to me ;)

If you are looking for a step change in the volume and tone of the system, then the way to go is either the Back Boxes or the Cats.

The Centre Section releases a little more volume and tone.

Noor - I want the most "cost effective" volume upgrade and the cats and back box are way more expensive than an x-pipe and panel air filter it seems unless anyone knows of any cheaper systems at all?

The volume upgrade from the Sport cats or Back boxes will be far greater than the X-Pipe with the Sports filter.
The cost depends on how much extra volume you are looking to add.

Weve tried various systems on the the QPs and GTs and we've found the Larini components by far the most superior in terms quality of the sound and the construction. Its not just about an increase in volume, which is fairly easy to achieve, but also being able to tune the tone and pitch of the system, to release and intoxicating sound that everyone is after.

Why don't we find a fabricator and buy a bulk load of the right pipe and get some of these made up? Noor surely we could do this and save a packet on the larni ones... If you (or another parts dealer) could co-ordinate then you can build in he same margin as you make on the larni units and we'd still probably get then in around £200 a unit. At that price I think you have quite a few more orders coming in... Thoughts??? Seems entirely possible to me :)

Noor,

Had the Larinin sports decats already fitted (GS 4200), followed up recently with the Larinin X pipe (OEM backboxes remained)

Annoyingly, folks at Larini have left the length on the X pipe a tad short and I was just able to cover the side slots when slipping in thathe newer section.

As their distributor, u may want to pass back; stop being so tight arses and allow a little more pipe lenght - it can always be trimmed back :)

My experience is that when we were at DMS we had my standard QP and a BJL's Sport GT QP on the rollers. The Sport QP has an x-pipe very similar to the Larini and I noticed no real difference in the sound between the two cars on that day. Maserati claim inc of 5 bhp with the less restrictive x-pipe. For louder I think you'll need to change/remove other components of the exhaust.

Just to add, a specialist told me that one drawback of the QP is that is the car misfires often the front cats overheat, the material inside breaks down then gets sucked back into the engine causing engine failure.

Removing the front cats might kill two birds with one stone?

I'd rather do the cats but they're expensive... does anyone have any sports cats for sale then :) What is the cheapest option here...? Can these just not be bypassed rather than sports cats fitted? I know someone mentioned the sensors in them will cause the car to go into "limp" mode or something similar but there must be a way to fool the car into thinking the cats are still there? (hard wiring the sensor or something)... any tricks around this?

That way 2 sections of pipe will be a lot cheaper than sports cats!!
