I guessed you liked it!

I am also talking myself into a Guilia QV.... which is a bit more affordable...and I can use my '17 plate on. Seems blisteringly quick.
?Different league driving wise than the Maserati Offerings at the moment.
I dont want to leave the Maserati Marque though.

Does seem like a very capable car Iain......Again depends what you are after... Performance car that can sit 4 adults or a 2 seater sports car. I know that the V12 is the one but a 4.7 is a very capable car and in S form well worth a look.

Agreed Andy . I think if I do change it will be for the 4.7 Vantage SS.
I think the Alfa would depreciate too much for it to be sensible- and my wife would Lynch me if I sold the Evoque so son after buying to go back to a saloon- no matter how fast it is.

Getting Alfa as a used car in a few years makes sense but putting 50k plus into a new Alfa....You would need to be very brace indeed.

Reading this topic in full interest, as the vantage is one of my favourite cars, after the 4200. Interior of vantage vs GT is night and day regarding quality of materials, as there is a lot of plastic in the GT vs lot of leather seen on the AM.

Having worked on a couple of Aston's down here whilst at Maserati I too think the build quality is Good.
One thing the British can do is a lovely interior.
Hate to say it and will sit on the naughty step but Maserati use too much plastic in the modern cars.

I think you are spot on Phil...Maserati makes a lovely interior but when the GT come out there was more plastic used than in the past.....

This was what i was saying Andy, on my previous post.
The vantage s or the stradale could be the replacement for my 4200, but the word replacement is not in my thoughts for now. Not close too.

The 3200 was the last of the full leather interior for sure and having been in a couple they are in the Ferrari style from my experience of a 456 and a 360 :)

3200, The last true Maserati with the passion and exuberance of an old school Maserati, as Mike Brewer said it's like "Berlusconi's Bedroom" inside and he was bang on the money, the 32 wasn't built to budget unlike the replacement 4200 with its faux leather and design with the mindful eye of the Ferrari bean counters. The GTS feels cheap in comparison to the 32 and don't even get me started on the latest FCA models!

I think you need to end the sentence with "as standard".

Mine has plenty of leather, alcantara and carbon fibre in it which, while very different to my old Aston, still makes it a lovely place to sit. But these were all options on the car that I believe were pretty expensive. Having sat in more std versions I tend to agree that there's too much plastic by default though. (If mine had a light alcantara head liner it would be a decent match for the Aston...that was obviously an option too far for the first owner :)).

In the interests of fairness, Aston weren't immune to this. When the V8V was released they were so adamant that the car would cost 80k that they took the Porsche route and nigh on everything was optional (HID lights versus std xenons, seat heating IIRC etc etc). Spec'ing the cars up to a proper standard made them 90k+, and as the model evolved more and more equipment became standard and the price crept up.

hi pal, ive currently got the 4.7 gts and ive had previously the 4.3 vantage, I agree the n400 range Is going to hold the money and the interior is a nicer place to be, but the noise of my GTS by far pisses all over the v8 vantage ! its by far the best sounding car ive had and ive owned 430's, gallardos etc!

Yes a used GTS is one of the best if not the best sounding cars for the money .....

Just discovered what my friend is getting to replace the V12 Vantage he has for sale at Westover (shown earlier in this thread). He's ordered one of those new 510 bhp Alfa 4-Door jobies at about £60k (can't remember what they are called but I'm sure you lot know which I mean). Gets it in 3 weeks. He hopes it'll be more useable than the Aston.

The guilia QV? Was tempted by that... but I don't think it will be a patch on the GTs never mind a V12 Vantage!
No doubt it will be more useable and seems like a definite everyday car albeit with crazy speed.
Interesting he is doing that. Gives more food for thought

I'd take the Alfa over an Aston as well.

I understand why. Driving wise its got to smash it. I don't think they are letting people test drive the Qvs though. I have a feeling if I got to drive it they would have a sale.

What are your thoughts on colours?
Got to be alfa red?
