Invoice paid(!) & car back.
Hopefully I can now enjoy it properly :)
Carpet crushing throttle position and power demand gearchanges are chalk and cheese better than bimbling ones.

Must also heap praise on Migliore. If you've a Midlands Ferrari or Maserati then look no further. There was a full house of perhaps 10 cars when I picked up mine.

Has anyone got an idea of who is doing these installs with separate head units with what seems like a bespoke 3-d printed surround?

I am sure there was another post about 6 months ago where there was a pic of someone selling a QPV with an apple CarPlay system that had a nicely presented surround.

I am planning my QPV restomod and of course, ditching the old infotainment system is high on the list..

Anyone have an idea of what “services” I would lose? I.e. setting the time?

Anyone ever housed the infotainment system in the boot to preserve the original services.

All inputs welcome!

Stu
U will not lose any services in theory, as if done correctly there'll be a separate ISO connector hidden for u to reconnect the maser head unit to set time without affecting the new install.

just be warned this is not a plug and play as wires and maser amp need to be deleted

Update.
Got the loudlink.

A bugger to get the changer out even with the supposedly correct tools. Which needed finessing with a file to go into the release holes. A local "the man" I use for other things had the knack. Then wouldn't come all of the way out.
Had to take the under-the-compartment/above-the-pedals trim off to snip a cable tie which was restricting the cable and out it came.

Followed the loudlink instructions.
Threaded the microphone between screen and trim. Only visible cable is with the drivers door open.

Easy to "fit" but somewhat fiddly to setup for my portable 'phone.
Mapping the existing headunit user interface of CD & track selection to the Bluetooth pairing, music playing and phone processes is clever but somewhat non-intuitive & necessarily limited.
I'll get used to it I expect.
I haven't got an SD card (yet) nor have I used the USB charging hole.

Well done. yes I had to get the local man to extract the cd changer too! Just use it with your phone for music and don't rely on the usb charging hole to provide enough juice to keep your phone going, unless this has been improved since I got mine ~6 years ago.

I'll likely use a ciggie lighter USB thingy as it's easier/nearer to where the 'phone attaches - a previous owner had stuck a quick mounter magnet on the left of the centre console. I got a very thin plate for the 'phone which slips between it and the fitted rubbery protector.
Can see enough of the nav. application to be useful.
