Hi and thanks for your interest,

My QP has both the Larini X pipe and rear boxes. It sounds fabulous. At the last service clutch wear was 68%. I have had offers and numerous enquiries but it has not sold yet.

Regards,

Paul

A very nice example but causes me a little quandry. Factor in a clutch soon & I start getting into ZF auto territory & maybe even Sport GT which personally I think suits the QP better.

Anyone have any ideas on how much a rough price is for a decent indy to replace the DS clutch in a QP?

Thanks. I guess a 2006 DS would be regarded as a late QP?

I guess with a couple of other bits recommended to change with clutch on late car I should budget £3K?

Looks like they've reached an age where the main dealers have realised the owners that paid 80k for them aren't driving them any more

I think problem with the older QP's especially the less loved ones they are starting to get to point when a few things wrong will mean it is not worth spending to get them right. It is half the quandry I have with the blue 4200 now.....fix up or break.

Yes agree but will say that Pauls is a loved example and the cheapest on the market ........ and while a clutch may add 2 to 3k to the 12k £11995 asking price it isn't gone yet......Even if you add that to the price and it becomes 15k have a look at what else is for sale and Pauls is still great value and then add the Larini's which are pretty rare on a QP and that's another 2k or so to add.......If anyone is looking for a 2006 DS QP this one is a no brainer as far as I can see and even if unsure has to be worth a look.....

I had a manual 3200 Assetto Corsa, followed by the 4200 cc which I love to bits, and have just acquired the automatic QP from Emblem so have experienced all three types. It's early days yet but thus far the QP is brilliant; it is beautifully made, has huge presence, and the auto is fine although I haven't played with the paddles yet.

IMHO Maseratis simply don't get the recognition they deserve but that benefits folk like me who would probably not afford one if it wore a prancing horse rather than a trident.

My recommendation would be to go for the auto in a QP. It drives nicely, the auto suits a QP well, and I suspect that enthusiastic driving would soon get through a clutch. After that it's all about condition and history as we all lknow.

I agree Paul's car is a great looking example, has been well looked after & if was 100% on a DS QP I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The numbers work out fine if you factor in £3k for a clutch soon so if anyone was looking for a DS QP buy Paul's now. I don't see any better options on the market at the moment.

I think the CC box suits the 4200 & GS very well. I think the ZF seems a better fit IMHO on the QP. I think they missed a trick by not offering both or not offering it with the ZF in the first place. Just not sure a DS makes sense in a QP used as a daily. Especially when you have a manual & CC 4200 in the garage.

If my XJ doesn't sell soon or for a reasonable price I might need to keep it & postpone a QP acquisition. Not sure I can hide a 7th car from the missus for too long. Especially one as big as a QP!

Problem for me is I have a 2011 XJ that has a cracking engine and ZF auto. Yes it is a weasel but gives good economy is a 275bhp twin turbo so reasonably quick, well specd, looks good IMHO and is worth almost as little as Paul's DS QP inc. clutch.

Say the 5 year old XJ would sell easier/easy enough @ £17.5k. Would anyone sell/swap that for a 10 year old QP for the same money? That is my quandry.
