I would love to have a crack at it, but running the risk of nutters in cheap cars crashing in to me, does not warm me to the place. I would have thought a bit more track control was required from track supervision than appears to be the case..??

Never knew the ring was a toll road..?? Seems that loads of german cars love the barriers and not that much grip out there in the wet..!!

Yes its totally unregulated, you buy a ticket which allows you so many laps and you go drive on, through a ticket barrier just like a car park. Any one gets on, any number at any time.

I always thought it was a track..?? I have learnt something..!!

The actual Race Circuit, is next to the 'Ring, and can be incorporated into it. You can usually use the circuit as well as the main 'Ring on weekdays, as most weekends there is a race meeting on the circuit.

Just to clear this up, the Nordschliefe was (and still is) a racetrack but in order to allow 'normal' revenue raising traffic on, it's then classed as a toll road. You don't have to wear crash helmets and occasionally you have to overtake coaches, vans, wagons and any other class of vehicle that has the ability to exceed, IIRC, 40kph.

Absolutely right Benny, last time I was there, there was tourist coaches and motor homes doing a lap!

You also get taxis there too, the 'Ring taxis and you wont keep up with those f*ckers. If you do, no one will get past you!
