It does feel very nice Andy...
I thought the shiney bits and aluminum would go reasonably well with the rest of the interior...

Just remember airbag is part of the MOT from March this year so unless you have a tester who is willing to ignore it will be a issue.

Anybody want to buy a nice momo steering wheel?
Only 2 downsides...has a horse for a horn button and does not have an airbag :D :D

Its going to be a nightmare Enzo with all the modern rubbish and all the warning lights on cars that are going to have to work as they should because everyone i see comes in saying service now or has a minus mileage figure showing how far its past service.

I guess it is a sign of the times Phil, cost of living and running cars keeps going up...
and disposable income is staying static or going down, something has to give.

Surely the airbag bit is only if you have one on the car..?.....a Lotus Elise the same age as Enzo's 550 never had an airbag so how does it work...Surely it will fail the Mot if it has one that isn't active....

I am only guessing Andy, but my thought would be that if the car came with an airbag, it should be fitted and working...if it was manufactured without one, then they cannot test it...

Was all 550 fitted with them as some early 355's never had them...

So worse case is that you change it for the MOT....Sure it's not a massive job....

Not up on the new regs , but the reg used to state if you had something it had to be servicable and working , ie if you had a spare wheel it had to be legal tread , or any fixed lights had to be working even if they were additional , pretty sure that if the airbag was removed as in Enzo's case and the light extinguished ........... in my eyes that would be legal , otherwise the aftermarket stuff will be come null and void, those are just my views , half the mot stations dont know head nor tail of what the rarer cars should have anyway, ie that the FI gearbox cars shouldnt go on a rolling road brake tester and that it should be a physical test

If you went to an MOT station said it had never had one since you had owned it I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue....

Spot on Enzo if the car came with it it has to be on there and working as it should.
Nightmare now for us testing stations carrying out the test which is still only a minimum standard on the day of the test.
Thank God they have scrapped the 4year and every2year proposal.
Phil.

My concern would be more with the insurance company...
If the new regs state that it should have an airbag, even if I got it through the MOT,
what would be the insurance company stance if I had an accident and a non airbag wheel was on?
I am going to play safe and use the new wheel as an ornament..or it may appear on Ebay...
You are right about the 355 Andy, momo make a boss for the 348 and 355 for this wheel.

Reading this week they want to test that cars are on their correct map.
Problem for vosa is to find the right diagnostic gear to carry out the test.
Problem for me not wanting to cause controversy is most testers think a map is for finding your way around the country.

Enzo,

Did I catch a glimps of Florence in the A12 around 16:30 heading East past Ingatestone? A dark blue Ferari with a bonnet scoop flashed by as I was heading back to Romford....
