I think I would go through Italy and Switzerland. Might as well when you are there.

Route Napoleon has sprung to mind.
I have basically a month off in June/July so plenty of time to do the whole south coast from Narbonne to Mention.
@RoaryRati Route des Grande Alpes? Where would that take me?
Check it out on mr google - but includes Col de Turini and many others (some more scary than others) ending up bottom of Lake Geneva - and @safrane is right re cyclists - the Tour de France takes place early July. We're going down via Route Napoleon but taking a detour from Gap to Digne Les Bains (I think) as it looks more interesting

I think the first thing to do is get a passport...mine expired in December so check yours.
I went to the post office to do mine (a bit more expensive, but that way you're guaranteed the photo is okay) last Monday - apparently it's printed and ready for despatch.

Just to advise if you are not aware that this is a total sell out again for 2024. Every entrance, parking, camping and grandstand ticket sold out within a week, with 325k fans expected. There are some practice days left and there is a ticket resale section on the ACO website.

I could have sold my accommodation in La Chartre 10 times over. It’s madness and with Aston returning in 2025 too it will be the same next year. Even the 2023 Classic got a record 250k, which is what a typical 24H crowd was last decade.

A bloke at work is telling me to go to the passport office in London to get it there and then. At £200 and still wait a week, I think not! Standard application time takes around 3 weeks and is less than half that price. (£82).

An Irish passport is €72...+€15 for living abroad...

I renewed my passport last year and it was back with me in under 10 days but need to get on with starting the process for getting an Irish passport now we have been here over 5 years
Tsk. So you'll be dodging the queues full of filthy Brits with their visa issues and second-tier visitor status, huh?

It always seems to be Germany that's the most challenging to get through immigration now. All manner of questions regarding why the visit and so on. It never seems wise to comment on the hypocrisy of such diligence given Germany's behaviour in 1939.

I flatter myself that they take an interest in the intentions of this peripatetic Brit. Although in truth, I suspect that carrying a copy of Ben Macintyre's excellent 'Colditz' under my arm, as I was the last time, may have marked me out as a ****.

Given my company does some of the renewals I can tell you to get it in before March. From April we are at peak time. You have been warned!

And no I cannot put it on the top of the pile for you Martin.

Turning up at security in a flying jacket, helmet, goggles and handlebar moustache probably doesn't help! Asking where you can park the spitfire is probably not a good idea.

Mine came back this morning - Royal Mail delivered as they cannot trust couriers to deliver to correct property! MrRR is surprised photo was accepted as I have hair over one eye and loads of clothes on (temp was around 4degC and I had been in the s2000 with roof down on the sunny day)
