That's a definite write-off mate, sorry to see that. The parts cost alone will be more than it's worth. Best get ready for a fight over it's value. Don't accept their first offer!!

Thx Craig. Almost a std car just a Parrot hands free & Morel front speakers. My insurance being kept at arms length & I have Gap cover as well if required. Off to get my stiffening neck looked at.

Very sorry my friend, can replace the Mas. but necks are not replaceable. Any of those parts you could easily grab if you wanted to I'm sure. The garage shouldn't mind because they are not paid for anything on the car when it's totaled out other than storage. You can remove the speakers and pop the grills back into place. If you have the old ones throw them back in the car. If not it's not going to matter much. If anyone ask you they should understand why you are doing what you are doing. The insurance doesn't cover any of those aftermarket upgrades over here when a car is totaled. The car is stock which is great on that end because you don't have tons of money stuck in mods that will never be recovered.

Before I forget when you feel up to it, or if you don't, send a trusted associate to get your "belongings" out of the car as soon as you can. The insurance company will more than likely try to get out there as soon as possible. When the car is totaled the garage/shop will only recover a storage fee which they most of the time waive when they do the repair, here it's anywhere between $150-200 USD a day. Since the insurance company has already "lost" the car they will get out there asap so they don't keep sinking money into their new money pit to get it off the shop's hand and have to keep putting money into something that will never be recovered. They tow it to their designated lot.

If you were here we could talk to the insurance Adjuster to see what we could talk him down to for a Salvaged Maserati. Being that you are their customer they are much more likely to sell you back the car for a very decent price. Well this of course would be based on you having a place for storage and taking the car apart.....many don't want the headache but the Forums are ever eager for new replacement parts!

Just my thoughts my friend, again most thankful that the ever observant person driving the Audi didn't paralyze you or worst. I'm hoping the light concussion doesn't turn to anything else for you. These situations never make you feel like being kind. With all the technology we still cannot replace people. Good to have you around with us.

P.S. almost forgot, if they begin to give you a hard time with giving you the right price for the car. You remind them your neck is still sore, and you're not sure how much rehabilitation it's going to need. I had the same problem in the Mercedes at first. I specifically told them I don't want to argue and fight. I want my car back to what it was. If you don't acquiesce this way you are going to pay for the rehabilitation fees on the back side of it. Most insurance companies will play nice especially in your situation. The person rear-ended you that's the end of the discussion. You'd be surprised in your (rear-end) situation how much they will get out of your way when you stand up to them because essentially this could turn into a very expensive medical nightmare for them as well.

That's a write off for sure. ..even if you could get new parts they will take weeks to gather.

On a plus point, time for a Gransport or Granturismo?

:)

Hope you're well in the aftermath. It's only a car after all.

Glad your not too injured and a shame about the car. Be sure to get, for the purposes of valuation, your secondhand prices from Dealers and not Private Sales.

Hope sorting it out with insurance is not too much of a headache.

Rest up.

One of the lads came in late today saying delayed by accident near Cold Ashton Roundabout on the A46 - guess that might have been your accident?

get valuations from parkers guide glasses and i forget the other one. you might have to pay a 10er but its worth it. those 3 guides are the ones insurance companies go by. they will allways try and fob you off with the bottom value in those books. you need to tell them your car was perfect,MAKE SURE you specify the extras and demand the top value in the book. when i wrote my 64k miles manual 3200 off i got £10.8k after much haglling. i only payed £9.5k for it. ;)

Sorry to see that but like everyone's said, no serious injuries. Definite write off but make sure you're GAP insurance pays for you to get a good example and don't be fobbed off with price of a poor one. I'll help with valuations should you need them.

Insist on Maserati doing the repair assuming that it is cost effective. Then ask the Maserati main dealer if he will buy the car off you once the repair has been done. It is almost certain they will say that they don't want the car because by law they have to divulge to their customer that the car had been in a serious accident even though it has been repaired correctly. That is not a great selling point and would put a prospective customer off. Ask them to put that in writing and tell the insurance company you want them to pay for an equivalent replacement car that has a clean history.

Grief, that's awful Hawkeye. I'm absolutely gutted for you, but as others have mentioned, I'm relieved to read no-one was seemingly hurt.

Can I earnestly advise you to have your stiffening back and neck checked by a specialist as well as your local doctor if you haven't already arranged this? I have a friend who had a similar crash and I won't tell you what transpired afterwards and down the line, but suffice to say it cost him three years of his life, major brain surgery and he's still affected now, all down to an oversight on initial medical examination. There are specialists that know the possible outcomes from sudden neck injuries and I advise you demand to have one check you over.

I hate false claims over whiplash, but that is certainly not the case here and I'd advise you to seek every opportunity to have yourself thoroughly checked.

All the very best with the car and with your own fitness.

I also used evidence obtained from 3 adverts on Autotrader to show what a like-for-like value was for me car, in as good condition. I could not find one car for sale that had anywhere near as low mileage, so I was able to get more than any Autotrader had up for sale, which was above any of Parkers/Glass's guides.

Hawkeye, beware the Audi driver saying that you hit the rear of the truck first and he hit your rear only because you stopped suddenly. Strange things can start to happen once insurance adjusters get involved. just a thought.

thats quite suprising, they usually arnt persuaded easily by adverts as they are usually inflated prices. how much did you get and for what car if you dont mind me asking?
