Hawkeye,
I'm really sorry to see your car in such a mess, but I am glad to hear you came out more, or less in one piece. As Emtee advises, demand to be checked by a specialist now, don't leave it, your health is the most important factor to consider. Your car will fix, or you will get paid out and get another, no good at all if you can't drive it because of an injury..!! As Benny says, make sure you were hit from behind, nothing else, you want a no fault claim..!!
Best of luck..!!
Cheers

Yes CAP is a good representation: http://www.cap.co.uk/consumer/free-used-car-valuations
Don't forget to put all the factory options on, a lot were not included in the base car price and this will affect the value..!!

According to that, mine has only lost 71.4% of its value over 10 years...

Or looking at it another way, I got to have a maserati for less than 30% of the original purchase price...yay!

Sorry to hear about this. As others have said, at least no one was hurt.

Take up Richard's kind offer on the valuations, make sure your Gap Insurance steps up to the mark.

Just heard this morning that it was assessed as a Cat C, (beyond economic repair). Now just the usual discussion over valuation - the opening gambit was £14.5K (hardly surprising it was a Cat C at that valuation! - only done 31K). I politely suggested he spoke to DL and we would chat again. Still at least the GAP insurance will get me back to invoice value so no need to sweat! Now to find a replacement ...... tempted by an XK today but looking at a couple of GS over the next few days. Thanks once again for all the excellent advice.

XKR is a fine car, but see Phil's post this morning after he collected one from a customer. Great car, no passion.

GS (if you're soliciting votes  ). Good luck getting the best settlement.

Due to the Ford motor co influence service bits cheap this one needed 2 new 20 inch Dunlop tyres and mot and the bill all in came to £804 with the vat. The service and Mot would have been less than £300 so cheap to maintain really.

Jaguar revised their servicing costs and brought them down, due to more complaints than they could shake a stick at, maybe we should do that to Maserati..??

A mate of mine is looking to trade in his Carrera 4 GTS in against an F type V8. They offer a 3 year servicing deal for £995 and a 5 year one although I don't know how much they charge for that.

The problem with these deals and manufacturer long life service that could be 3 oil and filter changes at £330 a time Ian. The £5 is for the sump plug washers. Phil.

Exactly! He was discussing his Porsche with the salesman and was asked if it had a full service history, he replied it wasn't due its first service for another 5k miles. So although it hasn't been serviced it had a full service history!

All depends on the small print, but we would not get away with those sort of figures..??

Tried a lovely GS today & found the ride a fair bit firmer than the 4200. Sadly a bit too much for my dodgy back - now looking at a 2009 5.0 XK & planning a trip to DMS to get it 'tweaked'.

Hawkeye,
Was the car in Sport, or not..?? It could also have been the tyres..?? When I have compared the two, the GS seems quite smooth. The XK 5.0 is a nice motor, but you will need the "R" to get the poke you are used to..!!

GS is a harder ride, even when not in Sport mode. 19" wheels, so lower tyre profile, plus the ride height is lower and I think the springs are harder (somebody may correct me on this). I find Sport mode unusable on certain roads because the ride is too crashy and always turn it off on motorways as I prefer the ride that way.

Hawkeye, beware the Audi driver saying that you hit the rear of the truck first and he hit your rear only because you stopped suddenly. Strange things can start to happen once insurance adjusters get involved. just a thought.

Maybe Airbag trigger points on the ECU might confirm order of event if they were triggered that is???????????
