Well, they didn't work for you two, you must have been the ar5e end of that particular batch, and Sparticarse must have banged his head on the bottom of the shallow end of the Asian gene pool. :D

Are you both serious??

Both under 40. Would never have thought it.

Perhaps you guys should shave. Might make you look younger.

When I shave I look about 18 and get asked for ID when buying booze so no thanks! Also when I now shave I get my kids shunning me asking "who is this stranger in our house" and things to their mum like "He's dead to me now" :D

Anyway back on topic ish!!

I invested some of my pension (old private one) into a SIPP. It has like most shares bombed but a couple are really coming good and they are in the Oil exploration sector. One has millions TCF of gas and the other is a junior in Ireland who have had the first oil discovery in Nevada for years. They are currently delisted at the moment since the GXG market has closed plus shareholders have lost a little confidence in the BOD since they are taking an age to prove the discovery. I have been in many an oil shared before (Rockhopper, DES, FOGL, Range Resources, Xtract, Xcite) and made some decent returns but this one could be the next Dana Petroleum (google them and Tom cross if you don't know the story) and make a fortune when/if they are sold off (1 Billion barrels of light sweet crude recoverable P50) and have the likes of Halliburton interested.

Anyone else invested? I have chance to buy more shares via an offering but am in two minds about it based on past history (shares hit £7 now down to under a pound before exiting platform). I think that often these things are too good to be true but I keep coming back to this one for some reason.

Remember I said I would do the premium bonds test. Well I won £25 last month. Next draw in 5 days time. So my pension is coming along nicely.

I got two oil stocks.

One Cairn Energy. Doing pretty well waiting for them to sort out their India tax issue.

The other Tullow Oil is bombing a bit for me even though it has hit oil in Kenya.

On the flip side I have Tesla which are doing quite well but have recently dropped 6% because it is likely they need to raise more capital.

I was thinking about purplebricks but I was procrastinating for too long and didn't buy and a couple of days ago it jumped 17% after rising 2% nearly everyday for over a week.

Also have your read about AMD chips. They have risen 600% and 40% in a month due to their new Ryzen chip.

Build an income rather than a pension pot.

Either make your work what you love so you'd never want to retire (I intend to be "working" part time until mid-80's)

Or train in new skills that you turn into a part-time profession/business when you "retire". Income is everything.
Having your own little part-time business that generates £25,000 a year income is worth a pension pot of £500,000.
Plus you'll die faster if you just retire and don't do anything.
Look at so-called "retirement" as chance to start the business and have the career you always wanted - but part-time.

But don't do pubs and restaurants - a lot of work, staff issues and no holidays.

If you love your work then the only time you'd retire is when you die.

Look at SOU (Sound Energy) at the moment, they potentially have 32 Trillion Cubic feet (Tcf) of Gas in Morocco meaning much more upside to the current share price of 89p.

When I was 19 when my mum TOLD me I had to join the pension scheme for the company I worked for at the time - 21 years later I left that company and have a decent pension as a result. I have always found the money to pay into pensions since and hope these investments will see me right into my old age - who knows ?

Last week it was annnounced that Sound Energy director (see above for MAF lookalike) James P was added to BOD of a new company Echo energy, news of this alone sent the share price up 600% in one day!!! I got in at 0.4p and am eligible for the open offer at 0.065p.

Sound are near TD and we find out soon if there is the motherlode or not.
