Gents

I was due to take delivery of a 2008 1 owner GT with 34k on the clock last week.

This was then removed from sale by the garage owner due to corrosion to the subframe??? enough so that they managed to push a hole straight through the corrosion!!!!

I understand this was a 10 year old car but wanted to ask if any of you guys had any issues with corrosion on your vehicles?

Also, anybody had dealings with Nuvola?

Ah i see

Are these easy fixes or major works involved?

I understand these machines will be temperamental and expensive to fix but it never crossed my mind that i would be dealing with corrosion on what was a 1 owner full MD service history motor.

Anyway, seen a few in Nuvola which look genuine but it has got me a bit wary as i'm not very mechanically minded.

I thought that this was a 4200 problem not a Granturismo issue too.

4200s definitely suffered from it and all in the same place, by the right hand side where the suspension connects.

There's generally two options, replace with an original(problem may reoccur)or weld but cut out the rusty bits, prime and repaint thoroughly and rebuild. Use a reputable welder, bodywork shop. I know of one such firm on the south coast who do work for a well respected indie in Poole.

A few GT's have had the issue as well.......rusting from the inside out is a problem as I take it you can see it until it's too late. Not great this.....

If you speak to the right people it's more than a few GT that suffer with sub frame corrosion.

Which so called "Right people"? I've heard of it on the older QP's and 4200's but never on a GT/S.

Re the Nuvola question: I’ve dealt with Nuvola and cannot recommend Nareman highly enough. Total gent. He gives used car dealers a good name.

Second thumbs up on Nareman at Nuvola. Probably still worth getting an indy report though - as you can probably then negotiate to a get a few more things fixed or touched up before the sale.

Just wondering if the garage in question is not Nuvola, why mention it in the same post, what does Nuvola have to do with the issue, if anything.

Nuvola have a few Maz GT's in that i am interested in, thats what its got to do with it! and why i asked if anyone had any dealings with them!

Nuvola definitely not the garage in question. Spoke with Nareman today, absolute gent of a guy and very knowledgeable.

Took the time to return my call and discuss a few things over with what to look out for in the future.

The garage in question from the OP was a stratstone garage, formerly Aston Martin.

So that's one car out of 1000's with sub frame rot. Qualifies as internet pub talk.

Whatever, Phil, I spoke to an Indy, not naming, for advice, the advice I got was they are seeing more and more with subframe problems. Rotting from inside out, just because everyone doesn't come on here and say, I've got a problem, and why would they, rather than pub talk it's discussion and debate and passing information on.

One Indy Dave and it's not whatever, I like to think that we as a forum know these car as well if not better than Indy/specialists and lets be honest specialists these days are getting worse and worse. If you want me to list the catalogue of errors (not just errors schoolboy errors) we've seen from so called specialists recently I will gladly list them in a private message to you.

You can do, PM me, all though I do think, as a forum, if we know, that people we may take out cars to are not performing it should be available for everyone to see.

Agree totally with Dave.
As one who has worked for a Maserati Dealer I could tell you some stuff and that was one of my main reasons for leaving.
