Many thanks for this additional information Javier. Would love to hear more of your Maserati experiences? How long have you had your 3200? Hopefully not too many other problems?

I've had a quick look to the broken turbo today (we first sent to a specialist to see if it was refurbisheable), and it has a slight bending in the shaft, so the paddles touched the enclosure and are quite damaged. I don't know the origin of the failure, I had a repair done previously to the car that make to remove the air filters and enclosures, and I've a suspicion that some kind of contamination could have reach the propeller and unbalanced it - but I can't prove it (I've also not seen yet if the failed propeller is in the air inlet side or in the exhaust side). Perhaps the unit had a very slight unbalance, or suffered an abuse (from the previous owner... ;) ) that ended in that failure, but sincerely I don't know. The car has 56000km, so they are not too much.

Well... the failure showed at low speed, but believe me... the sound was like if I were driving an emergency vehicle!

I've the car since one year ago, and I've not driven it too much (only 4000km). The previous repair was to fix several small coolant losses - one of them in the radiator itself, but was repairable without the need of a new radiator (that was the previous repair I mention). Appart for some electrical gremlins from time to time, that seems not so unusual, no other big problem (fingers crossed... :) )

From what you mentioned previously Javier it doesn't sound like there are many Maserati in Spain? What made you decide to buy one?

I like cars :) I was in the need to buy a second car (for seldom use and also for pleasure...) and I looked what were available here in the used market, and since I've also an XK8 (now in a dry patch...) I was first looking for a DB7, but they were a bit over the price that I had in mind... so I looked other GTs, and found that 3200GTs fitted my budget. There were some for sale, but most of them of German origin and without any traceability, and I found one that was first sold in Spain with some (not complete, but some) history, so I opted for it. And I like it a lot! Although I also like the XK8 - two quite different GTs :)

Hi P, The clutch is being removed from the car as I speak. Happy to donate once removed. Yes I have spare front brake disks also, though they are a bit rough. Good enough to show the specification though I think. How are things progressing with BB? Regards, Miles.

Miles/Loz....did we move this on with the guys who can reline the two plates?

Hi P, I think it may have been Loz that was looking into this, but I do have a clutch I can contribute if helpful?

Regards, Miles.

BRAKE DISCS ( Courtesy of Maserati V8.....post......#17 on http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/showthread.php/3035-3200-4200-Brake-Discs-a-possible-solution/page2)

As per the post and research done by Maserati V8, these have been exactly match to those fitted to the Ferrari 550 Maranello 1996-2002, both fronts and rears.

These can be sourced from 3 different online suppliers.....(NB One of these suppliers MAY substitute MINTEX made discs instead of BREMBO....PLEASE CLARIFY WITH THEM!!!)

http://www.brakeparts.co.uk/ When I searched for them today ....under their references BDS5670 and BDS5671, they hadn't any in stock, price for both sets £80 incl VAT, not sure about delivery costs.

http://www.apbrakediscs.co.uk/brembo-brake-discs.html?make=8743&model=9225 Hopefully this url takes you straight to the discs in question....price for both sets £353 incl VAT and free UK delivery ( When I ordered off these guys had to wait 3 weeks for the fronts)

http://www.nextdaybrakes.com/files_part-chooser3 Hopefully takes you to the discs in question, no price for the rears...fronts for a pair £247 ( not sure if this includes VAT)

Sometimes one of the companies above apbrakediscs.co.uk auction on ebay.........( old links to fronts and rears below)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Front-Brake-Di...59754696413784

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rear-Brake-Dis...73421015446174

Total for the full set of front and rears....£294!!!!!!!....:)

CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING - 4200 ( Courtesy Emtee...post #105)

Thought you might like to know that Hill Engineering have a clutch release bearing set fitted with OEM seals for the 4200 CC. No cheaper than the OEM but reportedly much better engineered. It's what's now in mine!

POLLEN/CABIN FILTER ( Courtesy of Philw696...post # 144)

Definitely the pollen filter is the same....(reference the pollen filter of the 166 being same as that for 4200)
Phil

https://www.shop4parts.co.uk/?name=...7&secondary=50&opts=37&btnViewProducts=Search.....priced at £23.21......versus OEM Maserati/Eurospares £64.34

WIPERBLADES - 3200/4200 ( Courtesy of LeeH...post #126)

Right back from the garage, any excuse to have a peek at those boomerang lights though!!!

I fitted these

http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/product...2-inch-wb5-22/

They are the 22" blade and clear really well. The passenger one does sit off the screen a little right at its furthest
reach when in the parked position, but once you start moving it sits flush against the screen.
They are heaps better than the standard wipers quieter, clear better and look fine.
Hope that helps and at £6.85 plus p&p each they are a bargain.

3200 PARTS ( Courtesy Conaero ....#34)

3200 starter motor:

Valeo: D6RA64 (Peugeot/Citroen/Lancia)
Bosch reconditioned unit part number 0986016530-93N
The only difference is the casting that bolts it to the bell housing. This is easily swapped with the old one by undoing 4 small torx or hexagon keys and takes less than 5 minutes.

£50 plus VAT

FUEL FILTER - 3200 (only?)....(Courtesy JIMDOTCOM...post ....#149)

Another item of interest is the fuel filter on the 3200. This is a standard Bosch part used on various cars including Jags that I've had....(Part no. on the filter is the Bosch Part No.) Works out to about 30% of the Eurospares price when bought from a Bosch supplier.

NEED THIS PART number to compare/price...anyone help?

WHEEL NUTS ( Courtesy of X1ons....post #48)

Get your wheel bolts professionally chromed - forum discount:

http://www.classicsandchrome.co.uk/1.html

instead of £3.50 per bolt I've negotiated a deal of £3.00 per bolt for the forum.

Saves you £10 if you are getting all 20 bolts done.

I've just had min done and they have done a superb job - very professional.

Quote this forum and possibly my name - Mark Ions.

I will do some more over the next few evenings guys....bear with me..............

Hope I'm not missing something, but it looks like these guys don't offer anything for Maser? Has the link changed or maybe they've stopped doing them?

Hi Hunta, not sure, they may just be generic Bosch blades that fit any number of models, just happen to be the right size for our cars.

Thanks Parisien. I was just having a bit of trouble locating the correct item on the site. Would it be these - their generic universal 22" blades? (I think the original link is corrupt somehow.)

http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/produc...versal-retrofit-flat-aeroblade-2-inch-wb5-22/

Thanks.

Yup...those seem to be the same as another post lee made, just gone up 35pence......:)...or originals.......
