Alternative parts, what everyone needs to know...

Just as an update on the steering gaiters, the ones i suggested were an Ok fit, but were plastic not rubber. Still got me through an MOT which is the most important thing.
I did some more research, and ended up with the below. Fitted both this evening and the fit is great, and being rubber should last longer as well. Fitted with heat resistant cable ties for extra security. Though interestingly, the plastic gaiters came with proper metallic security clips, yet the rubber ones came with basic cable ties.

I just buy the metal clips separately, have some in the shed if you want to change them.

Good morning Loz, are we keeping Dave Shanks' spreadsheet updated with these alternatives? It would be great if we had a single source of options rather than trawling through these forum comments: as incredibly useful as they are. Having the additional comments on owners experience of the alternative is a great bonus that I don't think Dave's spreadsheet has been recording, but we could ask Dave to perhaps include the relevant information.
Germane to this, I am embarking on the starter motor replacement, and have already got the Bosch equivalent, through Dave who was kind enough to repost to me from Rexbo (who don't ship to Australia):
Part Number: 0 986 016 530;
Starter motor
Weight 3,640
Price 66,10 GBP.
I'll open up a separate thread on the project, once I get back from duty in Cairns.
Cheers, Chris

There is a spreadsheet of the parts on this thread? Which post is it in?

G'day Zep,
It is run by Dave Shanks on his free to air website 'Maserati3200.net'. If you log on he has heaps of good info, youtube videos, and an alternate parts list under the heading Álternative Parts List... funnily enough. Dave also has a chat line where you can enquire into 3200GT stuff generally; an absolute mine of information. I bought my throttle body and pedal sensor through Dave, who also provides detailed information on how to install and set up. Once done you should have no more 'limp mode' CEL problems. He is on this site under Davy68. Cheers Chris

Dave’s Maserati3200.net site is amazing. Is there an Excel for the 4200 and it’s derivatives?

Probably been said already but once upon a time i swopped out a u/s starter on my 99 3200 for a new one for a Fiat Ducato. More than half the price i recall and wasn't too fiddly to do. Just changed over the bendix housing.

Oh word to the wise. I do remember the auto factor wouldn't take the old one for an exchange refund as i mentioned the old starter wasn't from a Ducato! That cost me.... Still way cheaper though.

If your spyder roof gets stuck due to weak webbing not retracting the bars correctly this is a perfect solution at only £17.

Genius, thank you! Have you tried them out?
