Her indoors was coughing quite badly last week, so just to be on the safe side we booked a test in Rugby
It was a walk in and you did the test yourself, it all came back negative thankfully..
The tech on the site was impressive, it must cost a fortune to run!

Great to hear the result was negative!

Yes, I got tested on Sunday (also negative) and thought the whole set-up was very slick. Got the result within about 90 mins, by text and email!

My son had a test on Monday gone, too Ill to go to work with temperature and an annoying cough so I arranged the same thing , booked online at a local walk in centre , quite a well sorted website and he had to do the test himself. Tested at 9am and had the results via email at 9pm. A negative result btw.

No. But took my elderly mum(91) for Covid vaccine on Monday.
Similarly impressive set up. Was directed to special drop off point as she can't walk far. She was helped through basic temperature checks, quick health screening and ID, issued with vaccination card.
Then brought through for 'jab' followed by 20 minutes observation for any immediate side effects and given paperwork and booking for part 2 jab.
Then they called me in the car park to come through and pick her up.
Efficient and courteous service by our NHS.

I'm sure all these positive experiences will be both front page news and on the 'Are you worried thread' forthwith. ;)
I ferried one of our vulnerable neighbours for her jab this afternoon and while I didn't go in with her, she reported a similar, highly positive experience.

I get tested every time I go to work, so 5 weekly. DIY as you say, not the most pleasant experience and if you don't do it properly it seems to know, something to do with a baseline, and you have to do it again. Get the results in around 30 mins. Sitting in a room full of people retching at 05:00 am isn't that great either lol.

And I'm due to be one of those helpers on Sunday - taking temperatures, ensuring they follow the one way system, and checking for reactions to the vaccine. I'm volunteered in for a 6 hour stint - it'll be interesting and I'm sort of looking forward to it.

I'm the only one in my family who hasn't been tested. The youngest lad made the mistake of speed-eating a bacon baguette before one of his tests - the swab shoved down the back of his throat had, um, undesirable consequences.

Happily they've all come back negative.

So why not all start turning the ‘are you worried yet’ thread around. Put something positive in there, as and when you can can find it, try and dilute the gloom and doom. As far as all the praise for the NHS testing is concerned it’s no different from the fantastic job they have been doing since day one. Except back then you were all out clapping on a Thursday evening, big deal. Right now a large percentage of the population of this country could not care less about the NHS workers and the potential burden they are going to inflict on them, and the NHS in general, there are too many selfish and inconsiderate people around. Sorry, but it’s true.

Umm. Yes. Not like I've not tried, in honesty. Which is not an excuse but there we are.

OTOH, perhaps not dragging this one down could be an approach as well?

Sorry, chap, but for me your post was generally negative. Focussing on 'Why didn't you do this' and 'Back then you were all out clapping', 'No one could care less...', 'Sorry but it's true'

Almost certainly not the way you wrote it, but the way (for right or wrong) that I read it. Perhaps we agree to disagree now?

I had a test, without the bacon baguette, but it make me want to text some ex’s and apologise. :lol2:

It’s sad to say that there really isn’t much hope for that thread. It seems to be a place where people go to express their anxiety with the whole situation. And well meaning or otherwise this comes out as negative. The trick, I think, is to not let it leak out elsewhere.

Sorry, I didn’t intend to upset you, Neither was I being negative. I was praising the NHS, and saying that a percentage of the UK population are being inconsiderate with regard to the potential damage they are inflicting on the NHS due to selfishness.

I’m sure I speak for Catman when I say, don’t worry about it and let’s move on.
