If they do not reverse this, they will definitely lose my vote. If you feel the same way, then please spread the word.

I am sure business will start increasingly looking at ways of minimising their holdings in UK banks. If they find such routes, then it can't be good for the UK banking system.

You could always start a government petition on line, spread it round your business networks, LinkedIn, and social media, get 100,000 signatories and they have to debate it in parliament.

This is a radical attack on the whole basis of living in a democracy, the right to a fair hearing and even if convicted of mass murder, you have a right to appeal......

Why not open a main business account and just keep a £5k float in it? Put all other monies in your wife's account which would be beyond the reach of the money grabbingbastards.

You could always pay your taxes as an alternative. Works for me...........

I am glad you have compete trust that no officials in HMRC will ever get anything wrong in the future... because if they do, your only options available will be to agree how to pay. You can only start proceedings against HMRC to prove an error was made (and recover your funds) AFTER they have taken the monies they believe you owe them!

As Parisien said earlier, murders will have more rights and protection than business owners and freelancers.

I cannot understand why anybody would be happy with this.

I had a long running problem with those d!ckheads when I left the RAF. Unbeknownst to me my pension was only being taxed at 25% instead of 40% so after about 6 years I owed quite a sum. They changed my tax code and 3 years later they owed me £4k pa. they didn't volunteer the information and I only found out by chance. It transpired that tax offices don't collate individuals, or even communicate, so the Cardiff tax office did my pension and Manchester did my salary independently. I would have been very p!ssed off if they had raided my bank account without telling me and, once they get it, the ba5tards don't like giving it back. For example, if you owe them they charge you interest but if they owe you they don't.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them but when I first read the revision I thought it a good idea and it targets or is meant to target the habitual non payers who ignore tax demands or blatantly lie about their financial status. Plus the revision does say it will exhaust all avenues in debt recovery before they raid your bank account.

I always thought in my ignorance we would all pay less if all paid what they should.

Simple fix to all our taxation issues .....if you deliver an item to a buyer in UK, you pay tax on it, no more letting the huge multinationals shaft each and every taxpayer.......crucifying the ordinary guy whilst letting other totally off the hook

Most people in the UK are employed by SMEs not big corporations but the attitude of this budget says "scr*w the little guy". Whilst big corporations are too big and clever to go after (and likely influencing policy), it is easier to ensure all taxes due and undue get collected from the little guy.

Just imagine: HMRC take your disputed money from your business bank account... only then are you allowed to go to court to prove you are right... yet how the h*ll are you supposed to fund lawyers if HMRC have taken your money? It's a rigged system.
