Hi Cavalier, Welcome to the forum. Are you thinking of moving to a Trident?

Hi Cavalier and welcome to the forum......The Brera as you say has great curb appeal and everytime I see one I want one...Heart over mind as usual with Alfa.

Cheers guys for the welcome.

As you say, that old Alfa cliche is alive and well....lol.

A Maserati QP is in the gunsights at the moment. Just need to get the right example.

Cheers Parisien.

Downunder, the number of Maseratis on the market unfortantely isn't as varied as say in the US or Europe.

Not too keen on dropping over 180,000 pounds on a new one so looking for a low mileage 2004-2006 QP Sport GT.

Heard there is a change in the auto transmission from 2007 onwards (ZF transmission replaced the Duo Select auto).

I've driven a few 06 and 05 QP's and found the auto fine so would be interesting to hear what others here may think regarding the two and if there's something to look out for with these models. Have heard they eat through clutches which are expensive to replace.

Again, thanks for the welcome.

Hi Cavalier,
A belated warm welcome to the forum from me.
I have driven my 04 Duoselect QP for just over 18 months now,
having driven on 3 european trips and putting on a total of 15,000 miles
in that time with no clutch issues at all (hope I am not tempting fate here!)...
I love the flappy paddle thingy, and my advice would be for you try both and
see how you get on...yes, the duoselect is a little jerky in slow stop/start traffic,
but for me, it more than makes up for it everywhere else.
(I cannot compare it to a full auto as I have never driven one).
Good luck in your search,
Regards,
Enzo.
(ps, love the avatar).

Cavalier....sorry to hear of your troubles....aka the socialist act of doubling the price of the exotic type cars in your country ...a disgrace!

I know of the clutch issue re the 4200s, but unaware of a clutch issue with GTs or QPs, perhaps someone else can enlighten us further on this issue.

As per ENZs advice, do try all variants and speak to lots of owners and read plenty online.

Enjoy the hunt for your QP!

Cheers Enzo and thanks for sharing your experiences, very helpful and exactly the sort of ownership feedback which is invaluable.

@Parisien - must say, the insane luxury car taxes in Australia are anything but an absolute pleasure to have to incur as a buyer - lol

Looks like I'm liking this forum a whole lot already.

Many thanks to all.

Cheers guys.

There's a Maserati forum shared with other exotica but by and large I certainly haven't seen an exclusive Trident forum here in Oz.

Outside of the big cities, Alfas are very, very rare on the roads so you can imagine how unbelievably scarce Maseratis are. With their price point for new models so high here in Australia (equivalent of 180,000 pounds and love rapdily north), you would be lucky to see one a month, even in a large, cosmopolitan city like Sydney.

There is one great independant which I have ear marked. He has over three decades working exclusively on Ferrari/Maserati so fingers crossed, servicing won't be a problem.
