Broken Down

Indeed, the coil packs & the wiring on them can get very brittle with time due to the high temperatures around there. It's down to the age of the car I would say and should hopefully not to be replaced again for many years to come.

I don't know which coil needs replacing yet. Is it worth replacing the ignition, front and rear coils?
As in total it's not even £200.

You're confused, chap, There are two *types* of coil pack (front and rear) but one coil *per cylinder* You need to replace (probably) 1 and 3. One front, one rear.

Congratulations, you've now become a proper Maserati owner. This only happens when you are able to provide a photo of your car being recovered on a truck or trailer.

To be fair, mine have never let me down. Now I have said that expect to see one of mine on a low loader very soon.

Guess your neighbour will be able to sleep for a while now with no noisy exhausts around.

Well, Felice reported back to me this afternoon. There good news and bad news.

The bad news is that I have to pay about £40 on a one way train ticket to pick her up.
The good news is that there is nothing wrong with her!!!!

He plugged the diagnostics in when she came off the lorry, and she came up with mis firing on cylinders 1 & 3.
Which Felly said was odd to start with. He then took the coils off both front and rear to check that they looked OK.
Reset the engine warning light.

Started her up, bingo. Good as gold. Took her for a spin. All good, running fine.
Left her a while did the same thing. Started her up and she's running fine.

So in summary. She's magic! :D

Felly reckons she just had a hissy fit! Probably as she won't be kept in the garage for two weeks.

Happy days!

Good news Mark, let's hope it was a one off - it's not like the car is not driven regularly
