The TrakkTape guys have asked for some feedback on the product as well as a few photos. Would those who used the tape please provide their thoughts on it here and I will collate.

I failed to spot any damage under the tape. Easy to apply (although Steveo and MAF took *forever*) Easy to remove. Very little residue. Would buy again. In fact bloody sure of it.

Really good stuff, frankly.

This plus:

It rocks
Goes on really quickly and easily (if you don't mind it coming off a bit), especially with Beans and Newton helping - thanks, both
Did the job very well
Thanks to MAF and to Tracktape

I think we would have noticed it more last year as the track was a lot dirtier...that said i can report no damage. Easy to apply, and sticks well if applied correctly..eh Mr Pea? lol

Trakk tape :

Goes on easy enough and once i settled on a good technique which was leave tape over hanging the panel your doing and then trim back to the size you want. So for example when doing the wings i attached the first inch to the doors and then cut along the panel gap and folded in behind the wing. I found going from screen to bonnet tip was the best way and minimised the bubbles. Pop the bonnet and fold under the edges and trim as required.

No damage to report on mine at all and some evidence on the tape that it had done its job.

The only down side is if its spitting with rain when your trying to put it on then you get milky white bubbles under the tape. So if you are doing a track day and have nowhere dry to apply then it could be a problem.

Water marks on wing

Its stays on very well and is easy enough to take off.

End of day and its still all in place

Echo all of the above. If you really wanted to get a smooth, bubble free finish then you could spend hours putting it on but as it was, it was dead easy to put on, even simpler to take off and did the job really well.

Blu and I didn't use it, and didn't get any stone chips either. There really wasn't any grit to worry about on the track this year.

Haha! I thought we did a great job, Martin. great enough to have clearly protected my bonnet from serious ding-age. I had one place where the tape was pretty knackered by a stone, but my paintwork just had a nick in the laquer. No tape would have resulted in my being very miffed that my paintwork is no longer pristine.

I like the tape. Cling-film looks funny, and next time I'd be a bit more thoughtful about application. I did like it when MLC and I realised there were tools to help us apply it properly... once we'd finished both cars.

Had Maf gone back to the bar then ? :)

Good to hear so many guys found TrakkTape helpful in protecting their Maseratis' paintwork at Bruntingthorpe on 6 August - thanks for the favourable comments!

I agree the tape was great. I had three big cracks in my windscreen and nothing on the car. it is highly unlikely that the stones only hit the screen. I might invest in screen protection next time as it is a hassle getting a new one.

You lost the screen? I didn't see that :(
