Career change

Many of you may have known my previous profession, but times change and priorities change to.

I think people should be confident in striving to do whatever it is they feel makes them happy. I've been researching this for a while, on other forums, in books and in discussions with people.

About two weeks ago I made the move and am proud to report that I am now a hairdresser ;). I even purchased the correct car to drive around in...

MX5? I prefer the Abarth version despite it's extra cost. I personally think that if the Japanese can fit a 2litre engine in the the Italians can supply the Japanese the 1750 TBi engine to shoehorn in it for extra go.

The new MX5 and its Italian cousin is very nice.

Can I book in for a trim next week, Ross? Phil's out of the country, unfortunately.

Correct chaps...an MX5!!

I might have been fibbing about the career change. But since buying it the number of times I get asked for a short back and sides, I am considering a second career.

It is the Mk1. Year of birth, 1996. 112,000 miles.

I've got to say it is nice owning a car that I can tinker with. That it doesn't really matter if I break it. Exposed screws in the interior, a roof millimeters thick, all the joints visible, no beautiful leather to worry about damaging.

It might be crude and all a bit plastic, but it is good fun and much more of a hobby!

If anyone wants it then drop me a line, a proper investment U.K. Car with only 88k miles.

Rossy great to hear you are happy in your new chapter. Life takes unexpected twists and turns all the time but sometimes we are better off the less wealthy we are. The MX-5 is one of my all time favourite cars so great choice! And I bet you have nearly as much fun as the 4200 and Vantage but at a fraction of the cost!

Have been thinking about a convertible to replace the Spyder, if it goes, but couldn't put up with the hair dresser jokes of the MX5

Grow a pair, I'd rather take the jokes and enjoy the awesome handling and fun element than misss out because of what some clueless twunt thinks

Anyone who disses a MX-5 is either an idiot or hasn't driven one...

I have driven a few and they handle lovely but not for me, a Honda S2000 might tick the right box with that gem of an engine

Thanks mate.

I am enjoying it. It is a great little car with superb handling.

If you actually let me cut your hair, I think it'd be worth raising money for charity first. It would no doubt be hilarious.

I think I'd be good at delivering the Friar Tuck look, though would be willing to attempt a Jedward :)

Gem of an engine? Not for me, couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding below 5k revs then a screaming banshee when VTEC kicks in YO!
