Indeed...the second event which started very wet...Recall heading for that first corner just behind Robins Ghinetta when the bonnet of his car came off and almost totaled mine.

Do miss that first 4200, always loved the Sebring Blue colour... thanks for sharing.

Wow, that was the ghibli as it was originally intended! A lot has changed in 8 years!

I'm interested, but could someone explain to a total nube what this involves? I have a very ordinary 2009 QP (not GTS, no paddles, no mods or anything), and I don't want to thrash it around a track (especially one as bumpy as CC). But I would be interested in chatting to some of the Sports Maserati folks. So is the QP an appropriate thing to take to CC, and just park up with you guys?

I put together a quick something for the last event

View attachment 39670

It looks pretty good laminated. I did think of putting the SM logo on the bottom, but left it off for now.

Hey, MrMickS, That looks a good professional job to me. It has strong visual impact and is an attractive, clear & informative presentation of the vehicle performance basics.
I would humbly suggest that if it were in ‘landscape’ format with a vertical divider there would be room on the blank half for details of colour specification, trim etc., without degrading the impact of the basic design.
Not really my business though ‘cos I’m not from the Maser forum but the concept would work well across all SportsItalia marques. Any thoughts anyone, just for this event??

By the way, MrMickS, It looks as if you’ve been volunteered onto the ‘Display Only’ list.
:( Hope it’s not because you’ve given up on receiving a track invitation?
I’ll try to get the organisers decisions if they don’t tell us before they request our final static display numbers.

Yes it would.
Hi MarkMas, Be good to see you at the event. Post your choice from the list below and if you have any other queries, let us know.

Looks like there needs to be a clarification of the options so, for guys reading this thread today. they are:

1. Don’t attend (inevitably the majority choice) :( :( :( :(
2. Attend as a spectator. (Public car park and viewing areas with pedestrian paddock access & viewing/entering the Autoslalom)
3. Enter as a driver giving rides to the paying public ontrack.
4. Enter your ‘Bella’ as part of the SportsItalia static display in the paddock. Just a bit of spit & polish required and preferably a descriptive label.
(also with the option of sneaking in an entry at the Autoslalom)

No, haven't reclassified. Still hoping to hear something on the track invitation. If not then I'll display only, which will probably be a little more civilised in terms of start time ;)

Surely the track and display go hand in hand? At least that's the way things normally go at shows, you park in the display area when not on track etc...

I'll be on display duties only for this one, as i need to rebuild my calipers after Brunty and time is against me at the moment.

Hi Contigo,

They don't seem to do that at this event 'cos they allow the public to choose the car they want a ride in ontrack.
The cars are split into classes for the morning runs and so there are separate marshalling areas for each class mid paddock .
'Tis possible to park in the display but it means that you have to watch out for when your class is marshalled into the track assembly area and this is not always to the programme. I did that method last year and it's just too easy to miss the track call. That's also why on this thread I split the track entries away from the static.
Do you want to be back on the track list buddy? I had mistakenly thought that mebbe you were bringing 2 cars at one point!
I've no doubt that we have a very good chance of getting ontrack, although as I posted originally, we may not know until the 11th hour.
Obviously it's still easy to do the social bit, but your car is parked a few yards away.

B. Contigo in a Maserati 4.7 GTS.

C. LuckesGTV6 in an Alfa GTV 6 3.0. (confirmed)

Just before posting this (on Sunday) I received an email from Richard about track applications.

He emphasised that he must speak personally to all track drivers before giving an OK. So MrMickS and Contigo, it’s up to you now!

Please email him- PDQ

He also asked me to remind us there may be over 50 mph differences in vehicle ontrack performance - some cars are deceptively slow!

Hi Luke, I've mailed him via the southwest fund raising email and they said Richard will get back to me in due course.

Seems an elusive fella.

All sorted. Trying to get me in an early session due to lack of driving there. Sounds like it's going to be a fun day
