CCTV setup recommendations please

So last night wasn't a great night for me as the GTS was targeted in what appears to be a random act of a mindless vandalism. We live in a relatively quiet estate but it is a walk through to a less than desirable part of town with a quite bad reputation unfortunately.

I want a CCTV setup which is simple (wireless preferably) has 3 cameras and can be accessed remotely etc...

Cheers in advance.

****. Thats rubbish Phil hope the damage isn't too bad.

I'd be interested in this too given I park on the street next to my house.

It's been tough mate, considering we were in at the time (8pm) and I heard two thuds and then the alarm went off, by the time I got the door unlocked they had gone.

Sorry to hear that and knowing where you live quite a surprise!

You need a visible deterrent otherwise you will just film the act. Lights and camera...although that wont stop them lobing a brick.

Good idea to chat with the neighbours as some get funny about cameras that appear to look out onto their property...they may however welcome the extra security.

hope its an easy fix and the t w a t s were run over on the way home.

There is a security light which activates immediately and it was on, that was no deterrent clearly. Either way (dent man) or insurance claim I'm going to be out of pocket. Waiting on the plod to turn up and take some prints off the car which I have managed to preserve. It makes me wonder if it is worth it now, working hard for nice things for some twunt to come along and ruin it in a moment of madness. I might just get rid of most of my toys, keep the Golf garaged and then buy a track toy for the fun times.

Gutted for you Phil. Hopefully the culprits details will be on file if plod can get some usable prints. The way you're feeling is perfectly understandable under the circumstances, but is probably a knee jerk reaction. Don't let the mindless acts of others deter you from having the things you want. Once you take the GTS out for a blast, normality will be resumed.

Move house.
Radical I know but why sell the things you love because of the mindless acts of undesirables that appears difficult to prevent.

Had it happen three time at a previous address. Each time I had the car repainted only to have it scratched again...I moved to a better area as I was the big fish in a small pond and there were too many jealous people about... niw the small fish and no one notices.

Hi Phil
Very sad to hear.
For similar reasons I have installed Netgear Arlo. It's a very simple setup and completely wireless except for base hub.
Batteries last upto a year depending on use.
So far happy with it.
For 24/7 coverage go for something with POE.
Hope this helps.

Spoken to a neighbour who is in the security industry and he is trying to pull some footage from outside his house.

This stuff absolutely boils my pi55, you work hard to treat yourself to something you desire and within the blink of an eye some turd destroys the whole experience.

One of the reasons I used to be paranoid about where I parked mine and also the reason why I deployed some security measures in my garage...

Sorry to hear that Phil, so so annoying. But you'll regret letting the GTS go, I am missing mine for sure even though I know I'm between cars.
Yes, it's going to cost you but look at the enjoyment the ownership of it gives you. I just hope that it's a one off but it could have been worse, it could have been stolen

Gutted for you Phil, but you musn't let these mindless tw@ts dampen your passion.
Eb

I don't normally mate you know me but If it is going to happen like this and cost me money I just won't bother , it's not worth the hassle in the long run. I've spent all day on the phone and now informed insurance company of the crime and it is going to Dick Lovett Spraymaster for assessment next week. I lose my NCB and pay the excess, so already next years premium has doubled.

I've thought long and hard if this is a hate crime (grudge?) but there is nothing that I have done or could have done to anyone to warrant this. It is purely a random attack and after speaking to a few residents more are coming to light including substances thrown over car paintwork causing paint stripping etc....

Can you park it at a family members house somewhere else in a garage?

I would also consider moving, it will only get worse.

I had paint thrown over one of my Alfas. No reason, except perhaps jealousy. I found somewhere else to park the car. Wasn't going to let anyone put me off.

It's not easy though.

Just take a deep breath and think of the times behind the wheel. Understand if it gets too bad though. Gutted for you.
