Hi all,

I thought i had better share my recent insurance premium, i am 38 i think i have 12 years plus no claims bonus, and my premium through Admiral is £261 for the year, this is a bit cheaper that standard as i have the multi car policy, but before that it was still only £280,

anyway maybe this is of use to anyone about to renew.

cheers Kev.

These are all old cars now so insurance is fairly cheap...I was hoping my 3200GT was eligible for classic car insurance but this year was no, so one more year to go then!

I have Admiral muilticar too. Also 38 with 15 years or so no claims. Around £1100 for all 4 of our cars which I really think is reasonable.

I'm with admiral for their multicar policy. A plan couldn't touch them for price and judging from a member's recent report they're not shabby in the event of a claim.

In China, they put a valuation on the car that is ridiculous (about 100 000 EUR), thus the premium (everything covered) is ridiculous: 3800 EUR... (560 EUR being tax and the rest insurance related).

If it is totaled, they would only pay back about 48 000 EUR, which still wouldn't be enough to find another one, the problem being there are not many other ones, and that the price would be in the 60 000 EUR range if you could find one. It looks expensive but new here with the tax it was 240 000 EUR. Far less than in Singapore but quite a decent premium over Europe.

I had Admiral multicar for one year. It was very competitive. However, at renewal, the premium went through the roof. Even though nothing had changed and I had made no claim. So, I switched to Privilege.

I'm with admiral at the moment, and just had a claim processed by them. They are very efficient at dealing with all parties involved and my involvement was reduced to simply choosing which specialist to use to get the work done. They dealt with the other party, phoning her within half an hour of the accident and reassuring her that everything would be taken care of; inspected the car within 2 days of me telling them where it was; agreed a settlement with Marios (they bargain hard apparently) and kept me up to date with the whole process.

The other party just made a claim for whiplash (it's apparently so hard to prove/disprove that you actually have been affected that it's worth putting in a claim every time anyway, you're likely to get something!), and I heard about it from Admiral before I heard from their solicitors. They reassured me that there was nothing I needed to do, just file the letter when it arrived.

I'm sure that a lot of this is aimed at keeping their own costs down, but it is reassuring when it all goes right.

So, what will I do when it comes to renewal? Simple - I'll shop around. There is no such thing as loyalty in the financial world, but if there are similar low quotes and one is from Admiral, I'll go with them.

Got the 4200 insured through the AA, fully comp etc with protected NCD was £340...... Thought I'd see what happened when I put the wife on as well......went down by £50. I knew she had her uses.
Just had to renew on our other motors: LV on one was £200 renewal, did a new quote with same company at £150, then with mine renewal quote from Hastings was £220, new quote £170.......

Therefore never renew, as the discounts are only for new policies.

There are lots of good insurers out there for 3200's and 4200's especially as the older cars are now eligible for "Classic Car" policies. I pay £300 and it is fully comp, Business miles and SDP and unlimited miles with Adrian Flux including european cover for up to 90 days.

This is exactly what happened to me this year, last year Admiral this year Privilege was 50% less! which I just couldn't beleive.

As I'm over 65 and I seem to get a pensioner's discount of 35% from Aviva,the Punto,Fiat 500 and the 3200GT comes in at around £600!

I've also got an Admiral multi car policy but was pretty surprised to be charged £900 for the GS.

I'm 39, clean licence and 10+ years NCD. The car is garaged overnight and my annual mileage is less than 5,000.

Think it must be to do with my postcode area, which when I checked I think was in band D - which is regarded as high risk.

Our annual policy, with the TT and 3 Series included is £2000+

If you're insuring through a more mainstream company then I suggest going through a cashback/savings site like www.quidco.com. I recently insured my wife's car with Aviva and got a £70 cashback. Not only were Aviva cheaper by around 10% compared to the others, the £70 back equates to 23% of her premium.

Kev, what postcode area are you in? I wouldn't mind looking it up to compare how the insurance companies rate yours against mine
