Looks like standard Rosso paint fade.

I think it is quite common on red spiders, especially the plastic panels. My '98 has some fade on the hood cover and bumpers and will probably need new paint like Matt's car. Just a matter of finding the time! :)

Yes Felix, hood cover was the worst (pink), closely followed by the front bumper (darker).

The reason why I painted it was not from the fact it was Cat D salvage, the body was not damage, it was all mechanical, it just it had had paint here and there over its short 25k mile life and it was looking a bit of a mis mash, with a few chip and scratches touched in here and there and some pink bits.

I took it to the paint shop and wanted the front bumper and bonnet done plus the pink hood cover. That was coming out at £600 and as he's a mate, and its only half a car (no roof) plus the issue of matching reds, he offered to paint the whole car for a grand if I strip and refit it.

I am going to do the wheels myself and the callipers.

Then over the winter I am going to strip the suspension, clean it up, shot blast and powder coat the rear spring pans and also do the same with the springs as they are looking a bit rusty and maybe a polybush rear but as its so low mileage, I am not going to replace anything for the sake of it.

UPDATE:

Bodyshell was painted yesterday and has had a whole day of 1500 wet and dry, cutting and polishing, it looks like a mirror.

The bumpers and other removed parts are being painted today, polished tomorrow.

I am going in on Friday to refit and take the car home.

Well a full day at the bodyshop on Friday, hence my absence of posting, she is looking the bees knees, just the one pic from my lounge window as it was way too soggy to venture outside.

New badges fitted all round and a lot of new fixing clips, I have kept the guys at Alfa Parts Dept very busy of late.

Still have the sill and some roof parts to fit as well as the door cards, but chuffed.
