Considering a Maserati - 3200, 4200 or Gransport

JMH are Indy specialists for Ferrari, Maserati and Porsche in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, just a mike or so off J18 M6.
Jason the owner has a number of Ferrari's he races. Don't know how to attach a link here, but Google JMH Ferrari or Maserati and they should come up.

There is also a Ferrari Indy in Knutsford called AE but I don't know if he has Masser experience being ex-Stratstone Ferrari Wilmslow. Has anyone used either of these indys and their experience for PPI and servicing/maintenance?

That's what I thought. Yeah I think the manual is great, very rewarding car to drive.

The figures on howmanyleft would confirm that. It's roughly 4:1 ratio between the CC and the last manual maserati made... registered in the UK anyway. 4200CC 501no + GS Coupe 122no to 4200 Coupe GT manual 149no. This is excluding the spyder.

I read somewhere that global sales figures suggest 60% CC and 40% manual but I don't know how accurate that is.

Also remember that the 149 covers all 4200, so even less face lift manuals ;)
Mind you, at the Scottish Italian Car day I'm sure that manuals outnumbered, or equalled CCs, plus mine wasn't there, and neither was the non-runner for 18 months one I viewed also, perhaps they are all north of the border!! ;)

The clutch is listed on EuroCarParts (albeit it's 1400 quid), I'm getting around to ordering one during a 30% off period.
They can also be refurbished (relined) I believe for a bit less than half of that.
The gear change cables however, seem to be difficult to get - though I suspect they could be build up by a gear cable specialist with little issue..

Given that most clutch failure (not wear related ) come from Tang Failure does a refurbished plate not mean you increase the risk of this happening.

It has to be a consideration, surely? You spend all that money having it done, and 5 miles later a finger gives in?

Im pretty sure its the old Ferrari dealership (stratstone) at the back of Manchester airport on the road to wilmslow. Its changed since that film was made to a Porsche dealership and Ferrari moved across town to a new site. You can see them driving along the A34 at one point in the film between Handforth and Wilmslow

A big warm welcome and I see you have had lots of great advice already. You can get a GS of under 30k with under 50k on the clock and to be honest I wouldn't worry about miles and what is more important is history and condition more than miles. As with all cars they will be miles sensitive but if you buy a GS for 26/28k I really do not think you will lose money. EVO said the GS was the car the 4200 should always have been and a true 911 rival at the time which the 4200 never was so you should drive both and we what you think.

I would also no dismiss a manual 4200 as currently they are cheaper than the CC but I do not think that will always be the case. Have already seem a few manual prices start to push closer to CC so this could possibly be a good bet for the future as people want that more engaging drive. Porsche and Aston Martin realise this on there top models and have started to offer manual again so we no reason why the 4200 manual will not be more desirable with time. Again best way for you to find out which suits your needs is to get out there and test drive a few. Dicky Grace is always a good place to start and you will get a cracking car from him.

Totally agree with all you said there Andy. It's true that the majority of folk go for the CC so cannot argue with that. Personally I prefer to be in control of all elements of the car and put my foot on the clutch!
My brother has a Vantage and has the same opinion. There is nothing wrong with auto's or semi's but the manufacturer should give the buyer the choice and not dictate to the buyer because at the end of the day they are keeping them going.
When I first got into Mazzers I was shocked to find out that the 42 was the last car produced to give you the option (approx. 15% are manuals).
And again as you say the rarer the car the more collectable, hence the reason for why they should be rising in value.............Soap Box session over!!!

If you want a very cheap manual 4200 with Gransport kit & alloys I could be persuaded to part with it.

Needs a bit of love with some bits needing attention but the engine is very strong and no issues. Not a minter but a very cheap car.
