Cracked Windscreen

I called Autoglass to complain that the driver-side windscreen washer had stopped working since their visit, and they were very concerned and helpful. They are sending someone out to look at it on Tuesday.

Wouldn't mind betting that they have put a trim screw through the washer jet fluid pipe on the scuttle.
Saw it at the Dealership easy done when it's all black.

Helpful Autoglass guy came out and partly disassembled the bit that covers the washer pipes. Says it all seems fine to him, no leaks and some water is coming out of the washer, so he thinks the jet is blocked. As it is going in to Dick Lovett on Friday, I will get them to look at it, and the Autoglass guys says if DL can show that it was a problem caused by Autoglass, then I should go back to them. I'm very impressed with their service.

So my QP should have had the windscreen replaced today while under the knowledgeable and eagles eyes of our good friends at Emblem while the car was in for its two year service. A crack has developed on the lower passenger side corner. Doesn't affect driver (or passenger vision) but should be fixed. I have the glass pack which means that with the tinted rear side windows, the windscreen is also IR reflective (apparently). I was very careful to ensure that they understood that the car had a "non standard" IR reflective windscreen. They also said that they checked the original build spec for the VIN and ordered the appropriate windscreen.

Having shipped the windscreen from Italy and arranged for the fix to happen at Emblem today, the fitter rocks up and sees that the windscreen he has been given does to have the "IR" marking that my screen has and therefore quite rightly decided not to go ahead. However Emblem say that there is what looks like a tint on the glass, (but no IR marking so who knows). Another screen is being ordered but I guess I'll have to have it fitted at home now. Since I have no idea what a "good" job is I'm going to have to trust Autoglass on this one....

Anyone know about this sort of stuff?

Let us know how you get on with Admiral. I'm sure a lot of us are with them for their multicar product.

Sod's law - I am with them and picked up a cracked windshield on the way back from David Askew.

Rear windshield and been with Admiral for only 10 days.....please keep me posted as I have privacy glass and don't want a bodge job!

Same here - have privacy glass and sourced a used rear windshield for £360 plus then it would need to be fitted less a £50 contribution from the insurer. Option B is to trust Autoglass, who to be fair, rang back and cancelled the appointment as they need to order the item...surprise surprise....
