So my QP should have had the windscreen replaced today while under the knowledgeable and eagles eyes of our good friends at Emblem while the car was in for its two year service. A crack has developed on the lower passenger side corner. Doesn't affect driver (or passenger vision) but should be fixed. I have the glass pack which means that with the tinted rear side windows, the windscreen is also IR reflective (apparently). I was very careful to ensure that they understood that the car had a "non standard" IR reflective windscreen. They also said that they checked the original build spec for the VIN and ordered the appropriate windscreen.
Having shipped the windscreen from Italy and arranged for the fix to happen at Emblem today, the fitter rocks up and sees that the windscreen he has been given does to have the "IR" marking that my screen has and therefore quite rightly decided not to go ahead. However Emblem say that there is what looks like a tint on the glass, (but no IR marking so who knows). Another screen is being ordered but I guess I'll have to have it fitted at home now. Since I have no idea what a "good" job is I'm going to have to trust Autoglass on this one....
Anyone know about this sort of stuff?
