Jeeez.. you honestly need to stop thinking people are attacking you. It was my opinion and quite frankly I think I’m in titled to it.
Please do us all a favour and get down from your high horse. Nobody is having a go at you, nobody is telling you what to do. It’s a free country. Just don’t keep ramming your opinions down our throats. Please.

Defensive cutlery bloke clearly knows more than everyone else on here either individually or collectively or is just a sad troll.

Just my opinion, of course! ;)

You’re protected by distance selling but you can’t retrospectively negotiate a price after paying on a used car. Hence why Beb did PPI and got a huge discount.
Your case is unique as the dealer didn’t want the car back at all. Doing what you did then discovering the bushes have gone with a normal dealer, I doubt you’d get anywhere.

Mr Spoon, your point of view isn’t wrong and all that matters is that you are happy with it and the decision you made. Equally anyone reading this has equal choice to buy either with or without an inspection. Most if not all who have suggested it might be a good idea have done so with the best of intentions and in some cases such as my own, have really benefitted from the process.

You point about distance selling is almost certainly valid however for me, I would always prefer to avoid having to return something with the added stress if it turns out to not be what I expected and I suspect many feel the same. A PPI is one way to avoid this.

I don’t think the respected Maserati independents work on the basis of fear. It’s £250, hardly a cash cow for them!

Regardless, let’s all enjoy our cars and hope for many trouble free miles.

That's not correct, the dealer would have taken the car back...

Yes you would. You hold the legal position to return the car, so if anything in a much stronger position. The dealer has to fund the collection, so without breaking a sweat you have that cost in your pocket, then there is time and other costs. I'd say a dealer would be in for a grand with cost with returning a vehicle.

I had a refund from a garage 5 months after buying my Porsche. Go on boxa.net the thread is there with all the information. Oh they called me a troll there too until enough of them met me to realise I'm being serious.

That's also on that forum. Same in the BMW one. And every other forum I go on.

Are you struggling with what I said?

UPDATE:

Hyper-defensive cutleroid knows more than anyone and everyone on EVERY forum. And is most definitely not a troll because other members on other forums called him one, but found out they were all wrong.

There’s a theme here somewhere…..

So this is classic forum behaviour. Because I might be in the minority here, I can't tout my no need to get an inspection line as much as the get an inspection line?

whenever someone disagrees on the internet, rather than have reasoned conversational debate over a topic, the majority party tries to shut it down with "just leave it".

I'm not sorry if this upsets anyone, but this is the first time I've come across where so many people are focused on pre purchase inspections on a one brand forum.

The world is different. Buying a car using distance selling overs hugely more benefit than this "traditional" route. Your money is protected, you can still get discounts and you have much more time to drive, check and inspect the car at your leisure.

People seem oblivious to the fact I've put my car on a ramp 5 times since I have bought it and 4 of those within the first 14 days.

I haven't got where I am or do what I do because I'm an idiot, and I'm not implying other people are either, but just because the forum opinion of mine does not go with the status quo then it shouldn't be silenced. It should be embraced as an alternative option.

Who is in a more advantageous position? The person with the ultimate right and legal backing to return a motor with 14 days for a full refund or the one who has had it inspected, and something goes wrong in the same time? You have to fight with the dealer for "fit for purpose, and that is a fight, and the fact you had it inspected means you were informed and educated on the car, all of a sudden, it weakens the position.

Buying a car using distance selling gives you options. Those options you can explore relatively cost free.

So OP - sorry you thread has been hi-jacked, congratulations on exploring Maseratis. I still think the inspection was an unnecessary risk, when you could have had the car delivered and from a position of strength negotiated when you hold all the aces.
Well, that's a different perspective, I must admit though I buy all my cars sold as seen
