If the relay goes thats it...no gear changes at all

well thats what happens, but seems to recover itself after being switched off for a bit. I found a few references on maserati life about it being th cause of intermittent faults on a few occasions as the contacts start to pitt.

not sure if it was a coincidence, but it did it again today when i cam out of the super market. I switched off, wiggled the relay, switched back on and all was fine again.

have ordered a new relay and brake switch as thats another cheap option it could be. I phoned my local alpha dealer for the relay, he said he had never had to order one of those before, when he asked what car it was for, he found it quite amusing.

Bizarre................laughing in the face of a customers adversity.........betcha he wouldn't laugh if it was for a FIAT Multipla..........he'd probably have a seizure....!!!...;)

picked up the relay today from the alfa dealer, thought i would ask if they had the diags equipment for the maserati, but alas no. Then got the relay out, pulled out the old one to find that the new one is not the same. Looks like its onto eurospares in the morning now :(

I hate to say it, but if it's a CC, I'm 100% sure it's your F1 pump burning out. When it gets hot, the contacts in the pump's motor fail to connect properly. I bet you any money that if you get under your car and tap the pump with a big screwdriver or a small hammer, it will start again. You'll notice the fault becoming more regular soon. Sorry :(

The pump is located on the passenger side rear, about level with the back of the wheels I think.

When the fault occurs, can you hear the pump pressurise when you open the drivers door or unset the alarm? I'm assuming not!

Hi Steve, Sorry to hear this is still grumbling on.. With regard to the F1 relay, did you get the Alfa part number from the forum? If so, and it's either changed or is wrong, then it'd be good to flag this in that section. What was the part number you used? Cheers, Miles.

I really hope it is just the relay but if you get stuck again, remember to tap the pump. It's better than waiting for a tow truck. It's s tight squeeze to get to it but you can. Take something with you that you can use to tap it.

When my pump was on its way out, I just set the alarm, tapped the pump and then unset the alarm. If I heard the pump kick in, I knew I had tapped it properly.

thats for the tip predator, will take a look later so i'm ready for if it does it.

Miles, the part no is incorrect, i think i posted about it in that section, as unfortunately the alfa one (0011130287) is not the same, i know a couple of Ferrari owners had the same issue, so i have ended up ordering the correct one from my dealer as i wanted it quickly, although they did not charge me postage which was good of them.

well did again at a toll booth, so had to jump out and push the car a bit today, not fun.

So looks like its the pump, so may be a job for next week. been looking at the post on changing the pump, so maybe have a go and see what damage i can do :)

i did give it a tap today, after jacking the car up, and it did seem to do the trick, but have another trip tomorrow so heres hoping i can get through that ok.

well after a ~ 5 hours i have managed to change the F1 pump myself, thanks to the great how to by John( Predator) and info by Loz. Just been out for a quick spin after putting everything back together, and all running ok for now, so will see how it goes over the next few days. Pump seems quieter than the one i have taken off, and does not seem to have to run as much, not sure if that means anything. May dissect the old one to see what state it was in. All in all quite pleased with myself as apart from time it cam in at under £300, as was on the whole quiet enjoyable.

so thanks again John, a life saver

good thought, could make a good spare as i would happily do that again to save taking it to the garage, plus would be much quicker next time i expect.

Loz knew a firm that did refurbs, am not sure if they still do them, it may be on a thread somewheres or Conaero remembers, could be a forum spare, like the bolts....and or handbrake shoes!!!!
