Well it's not a GTS :) But seriously, I want something slightly more deep than the X I had on the 4200.

H for sure. I've not heard an H on a 4.2 GT.

Here's an X on a 4.2

See, to me that's just too frenetic for what is a big, imposing car. A bit like if Usain Bolt had been breathing Helium :)

I have a Larini X-pipe on my QP, absolutely perfect as I need mine for business and pleasure, I can't believe the difference from the standard.

I'm with you I think... more growl and less scream for me. Sounds like H pipe wins the day. Thanks all!

Thanks mate

I did the Fuse 22 modification immediately - it still wasn't enough noise. I got 200 cell sport cats recently fitted and the noise is sublime. It sounds almost as good as a GTS ... I bet that will raise some eyebrows.

No worries..........Watch you don't get Tinnitus!!! ;-)

CatmanV2 Josh is the exhaust god he did the work on my Mas following recommendations from Phil and the sound is now epic. Centre box removed stainless H pipe plus secondaries removed ( sound only not emissions) and the difference in sound is amazing.
I am going to the den of Josh in a couple of weeks to get an H-pipe installed. £200 of your earth pounds

Thinking about X and H pipes, what would a car sound like it there wasn't a link ie just two separate systems, left and right?
Has anyone tried this?

Also, the sound depends on where you put the X or H surely. If any of you know about wave propagation will appreciate.
I'm sure any fabricators do a great job in welding metal but has any science been applied rather than a suck it and see.

Alright, it's not about the but that links the two banks, but Newton was telling me about his thinking that went into his tailpipe design and he'd put in a lot of thought to the acoustics.

Of course any new performance vehicles are developed with their own acoustic sections intentionally designing their exhausts to give just the right signature sound.

Wrt the positioning from manifold to exit pipes, there is a sweet zone for the join where it'll release the pulsing and even out the back pressure to the exhaust valves on the engine. Too far away, and you may as well just have separated pipes.

H pipe is almost just straight pipes so the answer is it will sound like an H pipe but even more pulsier (Is that a word?) it will sound grim on an Italian V8.

You wont regret it
I can name some that will - neighbours for example!

I'm going to keep it reasonably OK for now. The last one was a *tiny* bit OTT in that it woke the neighbour's kid. Unsilenced H-pipe to start.

Turns out that he booked me in on his holiday, prat. So moved to the 30th.
