Ok, its now time to get a show of hands on this one.

We are looking at April 2013, probably week 2 or 3

It would be a 7 day tour leaving on a Tuesday first light.:

Monday: 7am ferry, head to Strasbourg and stay night 1
Tuesday: Head to Stelvios and stay night 2
Wednesday: drive the 'pass' en route to Modena and stay night 3
Thursday: Maserati factory tour pm stay night 4
Friday: Ferrari factory tour pm stay night 5
Saturday: depart Modena en route for 'The Ring' and stay night 6
Sunday: head for Callais for return ferry 3pm

Now this was originally an all boys trip and suggest we pair up as the fuel will be fairly heavy, circa £1k. I will be doing so with EnzoMC (if your still up for it)

If however, you wish to bring your partners, then that is up for discussion. I personally don't have a strong opinion either way, but a lads trip does appeal more.

Can I have a show of hands who are interested and wether you wish to fly solo, open to pairing up or would like to bring the other half.

Target priced, based upon 2 sharing, including meals, fuel and hotels: £1k per head.

Be great to add a quick visit to the Panini museum on the same day as the factory visit , either in the morning or pm , its only 15 mins from the factory and has a changing stock of cars so what one might have seen last year or the year before maywell have changed oh and its free entry , but by arrangement only

oh and a great place to buy some cheap Parmesan

I couple both with quick lunch at the Ristorante Montana near to the Fiorano test track , its awesome food and a museum tribute to all things ferrari

I'm in, but i'd like to drive a little with you, so i'd suggest to do the Stelvio, or some other activity, ie city visit (in Austria or Swizerland for example, St.Moritz, Salzburg, Geneve etc...there are wonderful places around).

I'd like to make this later in May, so that the weather will be better and the Stelvio open.If i was alone, i'd do this in early summer.

What is "the ring"?

Matt, great you started this...Thumbs up!

Hi guys

Matt count me in but I will need to share. Personally I prefer spa to the ring there are just to many idiots on the ring these days but if they close it I will be pleased to have been

As for the rest there is just so much to do we could never do it in one short trip but I am pretty easy going so plan away I liked Loz ideas and I hope you are coming mate Dan as well because he offered me a ride if its still open

Ok Dave/Cobratwin has also offered to sort out a tour round the now closed Alfa Busso museum so I am in favour of going Sat to Sat (8 days) and potentially scrapping The Ring as we have so much to do now down in Italy.

Sounds like a great trip!
I agree no time to include the Ring. You have too little time having to bolt back to the ferry in the same day, been there, done that!

Ozzie, just seen this after posting on the Lambo thread...

I'm in. As mentioned before, not sure what the car situation will be in April next year. But will need something with 3-400bhp for this and the Le Mans trip.

I discovered the other day that you can buy a V8 Maloo (5.7L V8 Holden Ute for the uninitiated) for about £8k that might be fun, if not a little too familiar for you Ozzie :D

Doing the 3 ( factory tour, Montana ristorante, Panini Museum ) in one day makes perfect sense and ideal timing as there all so relatively close to each other, What a blinder if we could couple in night at the opera house in Bologna for the evening , least for those with an aquired taste lol , has to be in April for me as i cant do May at all , too close to a certain event and thats from her who must be obeyed at all costs

Chances of Stelvio being open in April are slim to be honest guys , unless its an extremely mild winter /spring snow wise .......................normal for stelvio to open late may june , but there are other passes that should be open , perhaps we ought to have at a moments notice plans A B and C just in case

So the Ring is out, if you wish to do it, you can always arrange it separately on the way home and Stelvio we need to check that it is likely to be open.

I think 5 or 6 cars will be a good number, otherwise we will have to split into groups to avoid to much unwanted attention.

Well not bad for 8K but they don't handle, they have heaps of torque, and being light at the rear can't put even half their power down... so unless you want a utility vehicle, I would pass...

Maybe we could hire a interesting drive for the trip between us...and share it...

Good point Loz, we should have a contingency for A;B;C weather can't be managed. But known alternatives could save us time and stop us from stressing... checking the weather in the weeks around "interesting passes" in the days leading up to the trip, would also help us make early calls or decisions which way to head.

Here are some suggested routes, we can use different ones in each direction:

route2.jpg

I think this would be the preferred route on the way down plus you need to add a couple of hours for the mucking about on the pass, so would allow the whole day to get to Modena. I already have the name of a gated hotel near Stelvio.
