Last thursday I did the Maserati factory tour in Modena. It was really enjoyable. We were travelling up from the south so built in some time just in case we got delayed. We didnt, so we popped into the Museo Enzo Ferrari which is literally 30 secs round the corner. That was ok but not as good as Maranello.
First off, I was allowed to park on the factory site itself, as I was in mine, which was nice. Then we waited in the "showroom" part until it kicked off. There was a 10/15 minute history of the brand etc, which was ok. Then we went onto the factory site (small group, about 6 of us). We had ear pieces and our guide talked us through everything. We went to the acutal production line first, which was really interesting. Then we headed into the test bays where the finished MC20s were given the water test, shake test and others. Then they took us into the future engine dept, which was the most interesting. Full of mules, Alfas, Maseratis including the new Granturismo. It was camouflaged but I had a good butchers at the interior.. which looked great. We then saw the emissions stuff, cars going through testing and the dynos with engines they were bench testing (including the electric motor bays, which we were told was the most important test area in the whole of Stellantis group). We then saw the engine assembly line, which was really impressive, and finally the painting line. (he explained why 2 and 3 coat paint is so much more expensive).
The whole thing took about 2.5 hours, which was tiring as it was 42C! All in all it was a really good experience, and they didnt hide anything. In total saw 2 new Granturismos, a few Grecales, Stevlios and a Ghibli all wired up for testing.
