I have just started a 12 month insurance policy with Royal Sun Alliance through A Plan. Currently they do not extend cover to include off road activities. Moris have provided an on line quotation of £167 for this track day event. Does anyone know if this premium is competitive or are there likely to be other insurers offering a more cost effective solution? Thank you.

Regards,

Paul

I'm no expert Paul, but on the face of it that's a very good offer IMO - had a few quotes before, never under £200 for maser or westie

:) next year I'll donate a chest-wig!

Simon,

You are only saying that because you want a hug! He he.... .................... Have now taken the track day insurance. I know many of you have run this circuit before. Is there any advice you can give about the layout, approach, particular challenges such as adverse cambers etc? Thank you.

Regards,

Paul

I spoke to Richard yesterday as David (Corvette) raised the same issue of insurance, here is his response/get out of jail card.

Basically, they will sign a disclaimer to enter our cars, although they do have a limited policy that will cover certain eventualities.

For those who were not there last year here is how it was worked out.

On booking in your car is placed into it's class, this dictates how much it will cost punters to have a ride in the car. £60 if memory serves me well for the Maserati.
Track brief followed
couple of recki' laps
The day is then split into 15 min slots, group A, then B and so on. As the day progressess and dependant on demand the sessions become more like an open pit.
Prior to the first sessions you are asked to show [pimp] your cars so punters can see whats comming on track and book a ride if they wish.
You then drive down to the pit, stop in the inspection hall, pick up your passesnger and do your 5 laps...fast or as slow as you and your pasenger wish.
At the end of their session you drop them at the pit gate
If things are slow you can stay out for longer if you wish.
If no one wnats a ride, thn just have a few laps solo and try again, or grab a coffee
I had plenty of time to myself [due to the heavy rain] but it got busy later as the sun came out.

For all driving on the day you should have received an e-mail early this morning with full details, let me know if you have not and I will forward it on to you.

Also for those who have a free day and want to do a bit for Charity PLEASE call in and have a look, take a ride, and you can also take your own car out for a run during the lunch brake.

Its only £5.00 to get in, all going to charity and kids get in free....So come on support your Maser Mates.

Driven it around 5 times...Its a great track and very fast...will suit a Maserati...but be ware it has one of the most difficult/dangerous corners of any UK motorsport circuit. Its the corner after the start finish straight... You go down the straight up a slight gradient which turns to the left then there is a little brow and then it turns into the right hander.......If you break on the brow you can go light and not make the corner so you need to break before the brow.....You can break after the brow if you are brave but get it wrong and it will end in tears...Seen many a smashed car by there.
