Ghibli Cup

The car in the article is the car that is for sale. Mega miles and many non-original features. I'd value that car at around the mid teens, but even at that level wouldn't buy it myself. But that is just my personal opinion and I accept that others will have different views on the value of low mileage and originality.

But if I were back in the market for a Cup, I'd much prefer to pay £39k for my old car (the blue with grey car) than £30k for that other one (the blue with black car).

I've emailed the user but no response so far. I may give them a call this weekend. Like I said it's quite a bit above what I was thinking of spending on a what is in effect a big toy but they don't come up very often and so close to me too, it's like fate! The problem is I've not even sat in a normal Ghibli, let alone in a Cup. If I make arrangements to see it and don't like the Ghibli experience, I'll have wasted the sellers time which I don't like doing (after having it done to me loads of times)

The flip side of that of course is that I might love it and then I'll be frantically trying to get the finances together and trying to convince the OH that spending £40k on a 16 year old Italian car is a great idea :)

The driving position in the old Ghibli is, shall we say, unusual. It certainly doesn't fit all shapes and sizes, so going to view the car, sit in it and drive it, is a must. But the Cup is no different from any other 90's Ghibli in that respect. They all had the same seats and the same adjustment. (Though a few Cup owners, Harry Metcalf included, did replace the standard seats with more racy numbers from the likes of Sparko and Recaro.)

The current owner is a lovey bloke and won't be at all offended if you go to have a look but decide not to buy it, so you've nothing to lose. If you want to, PM me your contact details and I'll pass them directly to the owner so that he can call/email you.

There'll be a Cup on the Club stand at the NEC Classic Car Show (Nov 12-15) so that would be another opportunity to see one. It's the one remaining yellow Cup.

It is the one that's going to the show - the owner is a splendid chap! It's being trailered down to the NEC, where he will leave it and drive back up to Yorkshire for a holiday, before collecting it after the show and trailering it all the way back to Scotland.

It looks stunning in yellow, more modern somehow than some of the other colours to my eyes - a delight

Hi, I am the elusive owner of the Cup in the advert. Apologies for not replying but I am getting the usual spams from foreign buyers just quoting a hotmail account and asking to be contacted! I'm assuming you are 'uxg@hotmail.com' so please just give me a call. I won't be at all offended if the car is not for you and if nothing else you'll have had the chance to sit in and drive one!

Kind regards, Duane.

Just came across these two pictures, both showing my old Cup (the one Duane is now selling) alongside the yellow car that'll be on the Club stand at the NEC next weekend. Good times!

Peter offered to loan me this car for a trip to Le Mans in 2011...sadly had to cancel the trip for a second time to attend a funeral...shame to see it 'die' that way.

Pibbow's car was a GT and only suffered front end damage. That yellow Cup was written off quite some time ago after hitting a patch of diesel on a wet road.
