This weekend tunnel to France then passed Reims onto the back roads to Montebeliard for the night. Into Switzerland for a legal blast passed glorious scenery and cows with bells, passed Basel and down passed Como to Milan and onto Genova for the ferry to Sardinia.

A few days on the Emerald coast and then a drive over the fabulous mountains to the south for a few days. Ferry from Cagliari to Palermo Sicily and onto Villa Cafela near the start line for the Targa Florio circuit where a scheduled meet is planned with the locals. Over the mountains to the south on Police free Autostradas and a week exploring Ragusa and all things Sicilian. then back to Palermo and ferry to Genova. Up through Switzerland and a blast through Germany with stop over in a Baden Baden health spa hotel where I will not be sampling the carrot juice. Then back to Blighty for a rest.

Looking forward to it.

Sounds amazing, bet you can't wait!!

and it must be that time of the year...

I'm currently mapping out a trip - Lille - Mannheim - Black Forest via the Bertha Benz memorial route and the Schwartzwaldhochstraße then on to Basel - Turin via St. Bernards and over the maritime alps to Nice. Stopping for a few days somewhere along that route, then up along the Napoleon Way to Grenoble and home...Leaving Sunday as I'm seeing the family off to the airport for a trip to Turkey first.

It's a bit ad-hoc at the moment as I only started thinking seriously about it a couple of days ago, so short notice, and subject to change.

Any pointers for places to stay / eat would be more than welcome, and may change my route if they look interesting enough!

Any reason why Montebeliard, other than it looks like there's an enormous test circuit there?

Very nice, myself and the Mrs Conaero are off to Montreuil Sur Mer this weekend as I am now 10 years into my life sentence.

I will be on the DFDS ferry out of Dover at 10am Saturday, ill give you a wave if I see you.

I've done some calculations and don't want to think how much it's going to cost down to the Black Forest & back via Nice...maybe I should just cycle instead...Ha!

Never going to be a cheap option.......long journeys in a Maser.........but...either you want to enjoy, be seen....and have fun.....or ignored, bored and be overlooked........has to be the Maser

There definitely must be something in the air today. I spent the morning discussing this summer's journey with my other half and phoning various relatives involved to sort out dates etc. It looks like we'll be doing a few thousand kms around Normandy Brittany Touraine and back to Normandy. There's the option of attending a party near Nîmes as well - a h3ll of a long way for a party but I'm up for it, some lovely road across the Auvergne :)

I'm looking forward to getting the QP onto some of that lovely smooth French tarmac. The fuel bill is another story.

The trip will be about 3 weeks and Montebeliard has an Accord group ( formerly Etap) hotel with secure parking very close to the Swiss border. Going from Reims to Montebeliard saves a fortune in tolls and it is a fast road. I'll post the exact route for future ref.

Sorry for delay in responding, I've been buffing the car. I'm taking the Cali but now the QP feels so good with the new setup I'm taking it to Greece in Sept.

I'll look out for you on the other side.
