Montlucon......a positive oasis in which to re-cuperate......the little almost boutique hotel we booked into had private parking at the rear.....the beast hunkered down to lick its wounds.......the occupants similarly........;)

Its an old town, occupied by the English during the 100 years war, tell tale signs left behind. It was dry but cool......we didn't mind.

Needless to say these pics were taken before the rest of the town was awake!!!

We set off towards Gay Paree, decided to go via Sancerre...been there before like Beaune but on a smaller scale. Lovely roads enticed the beast to stretch her legs...the CC light stayed off.

We weaved along the N and D roads....virtually empty, absorbing the fabulous scenery, feeling as if our road taxs collected in the UK were actually spent in France!

Coffee stop in St Amand- Montrond...seemed like a good idea at the time, made our way to the centre ville.....but took a slight wrong turn down a steep incline and ended up having to reverse back up...........the CC light came on again.....most annoying but by now sorta used to it, nevertheless we phoned Marios at Autoshield who re-assured us there there was a glitch but not a fatal one!

On we went, light coming on and off........but the miles being eaten up....Sancerre loomed. A lovely little town atop a hill over looking the surrounding rolling hills....delightful!

Paris.............................................:)

We've learnt the lesson over the years.......only ever enter this city via an autoroute, cos if you get lost in the suburbs....life as you know it ends.........!!! No map or SAT NAV will get you out of it....truly horrible!!!!

Traffic slowed dramatically as we neared, heavy persistant rain made driving very slow......but it clearer as we finally slowed on the entry approach, yes, entering Paris via the autoroute is much like arriving by plane!!!!!

Port D'Italie was selected........its very very difficult...even though I've driven in and around Paris for 20 odd years, I still find it difficult. But, thankfuly the Parisiens are lovely people......normally very reserved, a bus driver tooted beside me engaged me in conversation, offering to swop the keys of his bus for my Maserati........." Pas aujourd'hui, Monsieur!"

Once clear of the bottle neck we made swift progress to our friends undergound, secure and safe parking...a few more days chilling in our fav city loomed....magic!!!

We stayed 4 nights in the City of Light, the car parked safely had unfortunately been "molested", by no other person than the concierge of my friends apartment block.......see photos below.....how scurulous can any man get!!!

Each time the beast ventured onto the streets the locals smiled in approval indeed again openly engaging in conversation.................such is the power of the Trident.

I hope you enjoy the remainder of the photos taken in France!

How could he stick this on the beast...took us 10 mins to get off!!

Can I thank all the guys who took part in the run - Miles and Linda, Robert and Glenis, James, Lewis and Sarah and finally Nikos.

The run is only as good as those taking part, a true pleasure to spend time in your company, to drive with you and come away from the trip with many happy and special memories!
