The good news with those rust-ready pipe protector plates is that they're as cheap as chips. I have my new ones here ready for fitting. Well, assuming they haven't rotted away to nothing in the week since they were delivered.

Are you treating them to a smattering of something to protect them before they go on Adam?

Oh, God, yes! They can have a splash of Hammerite. The original coating is really thin and scratches down to bare metal very easily. Otherwise I suspect just the act of tightening the bolts will strip off the paint and you'll have rust forming in a matter of a week or so.

Indeed, I could have got new ones but TBF, the ones that were on there were not too bad and considering I would have to strip and rust protect the new ones anyway, thought they were worth saving.
