Really sorry to hear about this disgraceful behaviour
but
some people do not behave as they should in business (eg I cannot believe it is not Blatter)
Patience and you will get sorted

Well. All in all a rather active weekend. And a couple of Highs and Lows. Still can't stop looking at auto trader, piston heads and others as such. And now EBay!

This one seems to have an exhaust system added. although and older model: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Maserati-...008?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33a2bbd5a0

Might be worth a look.
The thing is I had bitten into a good bargain deal and now that its not happening I feel it is unjustified to part with similar cash for older, less advanced cars.
Yesterday I couldn't sleep due to excitement. Today I might spend the night on car ****!

The other problem you have is that dealers use these forums and I wouldn't be surprised if they spotted this thread and bid on it! The downside of an open not registered forum and something I have been moaning about for ages.

You are right. I need to calm down.
I have heard about Richard. Will give him a call tomorrow. He currently has my dream car the QP GTS 4.7 with red interior which I adore. But its just priced outside double my budget :)

I have just put my own car up for sale. So I do have time.

The car Richard has for sale is a SM member on here......What car are you selling Sommi.....you never know some one may be interested on here.

I am selling a 1998 Lexus LS 400 in Gold colour. It has done 108k Miles and has full Main dealer history. I bought it 7 years ago as an instinct purchase
over an S class based on reviews of its legendary reliability, comfort and tech. It has never let me down and has been a very able family car appreciated by all in the age group of 0-75.
I have put it n eBay and responses are coming in. It should go in the next week or so.
I will keep looking now as the momentum / urge is there to get a Maserati like never before.
It may take some time but something will come along and make my day!

As highlighted by Phil, the issue with open public forums is that they are a good hunting ground for dealers. I remember when I was looking for an NSX how the NSXCB forum was in serious shortage of good cars as member cars were snapped up by dealers within days of being put for sale within NSXCB only and then sold on for almost 30% markup. There is a lot of foul mouthed material about such practices on that forum.

But the good thing about such open forums is that it makes many lurkers like me into converts and hence helps its main cause - to build a community of righteous fans and share the joys of owning such magnificent machines. And that is all that matters.

Hi Sommi, I've had my late 2007 QP Sport GT 4.2 for just over a year now, best car that I've ever had. I sold a new 3.4 Boxter S to get her, and believe me that despite having some niggles, a few more repairs than I'd have liked and now being on very good terms at my local Shell garage, I do not regret one minute.

This marque is about passion and style and I can't think of a car even near to this price that I'd change it for. In my opinion this is the worlds most undervalued car and I really can't understand why.

The sound is fantastic, the performance is fantastic, I've had onlookers stare, clap, salute, go out of their way to talk to me about it, take photographs and invariably smile when they see it. My advice would be to buy from a dealer, have an inspection, get a good warranty, look out for slight leaks on the head gasket, check the variator history as these are expensive to replace, also these are heavy cars so older ones might have issues with suspension, an issue which isn't typically covered on the warranty as it's considered wear & tear.
Also make sure that you get the later full ZF gearbox as the earlier Duo select version could land you with some big clutch bills, so you'll need 2007 or later. Please just take this info as advice, not a reason not to buy a QP. - I would buy mine again tomorrow. Most of my issues have been covered on warranty so I haven't spent too much of my own cash and I now have a very sorted QP.

Follow your heart on this one, you'll love it forever and be stuffed because you'll never be able to think of another marque that you'll want to swap it for. I'm still relatively new to this myself, but the guys on this forum are great and incredibly helpful and welcoming so you'll be in good company with lots of support as I'm sure that you've already seen from earlier posts to your question. Chill your beans, take a little longer to get the right one and I look forward to seeing photos on this forum when she arrives. - Best of luck choosing - I'm jealous.

Thanks Nemcova. That is very supportive. And thanks for the pointers. I will not buy without the inspection. And will most probably invest in a Warrantywise package.
I've read on US forum, Maseratilife, that they really like the duo-select as it is more driver focused. And its kind of sort after over there. From whats on sale here, there are more duo-select cars in my budget range than the automatic ones. Should I? I am like a kid in front of the ice cream van right now. Got to have one, can't decide which one, bit gotta have one.
I taught my 4 year olds to spell and say Maserati yesterday and explained thats the next car coming. One of them actually said she loved the Maserati symbol! And today they asked the most obvious question "Is it here yet?"!

I recognise that excitement, I still have it every time I get into mine.

I understand your point on the duo select, but I'd still advise caution. There are other good threads that you'll find on this subject in this forum and plenty of more experienced owners than me who can give you advice.
I actually got hooked when I saw a beautiful duo select locally, but following my own research I decided to go with the ZF gearbox. I think that was the right decision for me, but you'll have your own thoughts and ideas on the right car for you of course. Either way, good luck with the search.

SOmmi, drive an Auto and Duo...SUo select is great and a more sportier drive apart from if you go for the SPort GTS that is but some would still prefer the duo select to that as they feel it is more involving. Duo select was never popular with the press when they drove the car but a short test drive will not be enough for you to get used to the box and understand it as you get to know it the more you use it. The Auto with paddle shift suits the QP very well as it was sort of the box that the QP was waiting for. Both are great but different in character......The Duo select also can be expensive on clutches depending on use......Work on around 35k miles for a change but some have gone at 20k and some well over 40k...depends on how it's been treated but when buying remember it's around £2000 to change.......A report on clutch wear is important if buying duo select........WHat ever you choice I have no doubt you will enjoy as the car is so much fun...I have driven a few duo select and couldn't believe how they shrink around you when pressing on. The handling is just brilliant for such a big car and the duo select suited the car...especially when on track..

Have a look at what a VW DSG clutch costs to replace... Bearing in mind that we are talking about mass market Golfs and similar, it's not significantly different to the parts and labour cost for a QP DS.

Drive both and make up your own mind - the DS box is reliable and gets you a dry sump engine with better weight distribution; the auto box gets you a wet sump engine with better manners if you mostly drive it around town. The price difference between a DS and an auto will probably pay for a clutch anyway, so it boils down to which one you prefer. Clutch wear readings are closer to astrology than science in my experience, so better to know how many miles the clutch has done rather than the fantasy wear figure.

Sorry to hear that, Sommi. The path to Italian fulfilment is occasionally frustrated by the slings and arrows of gits who welsh on a deal, but you'll get there in the end. Take the time to look at a few and drive a few. It won't take long, I'm sure, before that Maserati-shaped hole in your life is filled. Happy hunting!

Personally I like the Duoselect. IMO it makes a big car feel much more sporty and there are some bargains out there. I keep thinking about buying one but that would mean the end to the QP IV which I am in 2 minds as to get sorted or not.

Either way the road to Maserati ownership might be bumpy but when your there you don't regret the journey :)

There you go, lots of sensible replies, especially try both and buy the one that best suits your driving style and needs. Can't argue with that. Either way you've got a treat ahead.

I've never understood the relevance of this weight distribution thing as when I drove an MC GranTurismo it felt no different to mine in that regard and, come to think if it, sometimes I have 80 litres of fuel sat behind the rear seat and sometimes 10 litres and I can't tell the difference............might just be me mind.

That's right. Even the auto is very different between the 4.2 and 4.7 on both QP/GranTurismo. Lots of choices, all bases covered. The trick is to try before you buy.

It's not just you, BB. I'd love to say I can tell the difference but I can't. All I know is that mine feels great and I love driving it.

It is amazing how polite this place is given how many other forums descend into irony, insult and inappropriate behaviour.

It's good, innit? Not judgemental, just supportive, helpful and frequently very, very funny.
