Oh yes, another fly in the ointment is an RM1 postcode as this is a blacklisted postcode because of all the youths splatting themselves on the ring road every weekend; nothing to do with me but I have to prop up their claims!

This really gets me.

I'm penalised by postcode too. I went to the same broker, same underwriter, as another '06 QP owning friend uses. This other QP owner has points and a recent write-off on his file, he commutes across London in the car every day; and parks near me so he actually drives on roads local to me more than I do. Me with a totally clean history, limited mileage, the car in a secure garage living most of its life safely tucked away on a battery conditioner came out a couple of hundred quid more. Purely postcode.

My 17 year old is testing insurance and on our Aygo (group 1 insurance) the supposedly cheapest class to insure he is coming back at £3,000, if he puts in his mates address just 2 miles away RM6 it comes back £500 cheaper...

The guy from A-Plan also mentioned BR1 & BR6 as suffering too, sorry for anyone in Bromley!

I went through all the usual channels and got fully comp from 1st Central for just over £300 on my 4200. Premium is low but you get stung in high admin charges if you want to make policy changes, so best not to move house too often!

I was with 1st Central with the M5 and moved house, they wanted the annual premium just for a house move round the corner!!!! I cancelled and went with swift.

Good Morning Gents, we are often asked by our Maserati customers to recommend a competitive insurance co. We have, over the past couple of years, put many of them through to these people; A-Plan Insurance in Beaconsfield, the branch manager is Chris Pooler and they can be contacted on 01494 427900 or beaconsfield@aplan.co.uk .We have no commercial association with them and have only ever received very positive feedback and regular praise regarding their pricing and excellent service, probably worth a try, regards Alistair @ ADG Sevenoaks

Totally agree Alistair, I've just spent the best part of three days trying to sort insurance and ended up back with A-plan for the Maserati but also with the van and their service is exceptional.

I'm planning to limit the mileage on my proposed GT. Take it off the road between Nov - March inclusive and store it in the garage. In the harsh winter months I will drive a jalopy I have (MX5). I am trying to find an insurance company who will insure both such that if needed, I can jump in one or the other without any premium changes each time. Struggling. Anyone had any experience in this area.
I know there are (multi) car insurances out there but they treat each car as separate bar the shouting and hence almost double the premium. In reality of course, one can only drive one car at a time!!!

I also have excess insurance. For £42 per year I have excess cover to £1000 on: Car / house / holiday / health claims. This means that when I ask for a quote for car insurance I tell them I want £1000 vol and comp excess please? This significantly reduces the premium well below the £42 paid for the excess insurance policy. Worth looking at..................

Interesting. Who is that with?

I also have forty quid's worth of annual rental car excess cover with http://insurance4carhire.com which already paid for itself in one rental period; much much cheaper than the rental company's comparable cover.
