I'm just coming up for renewal after the theft this year of two cars from the driveway and I was seriously expecting it to double but in fact it has only gone up by 50% so my premium for the next 12 months will be £1,560 plus tax etc. Hoyin, you may well find your new post code is not so well liked by insurers, mine was already blacklisted because of the A12/127 falling within the first part, the RomfordRing falling into the second, the burglary/theft and the poor lad killed a few years back who lived on our specific post code (as a result of being in a car driven by a drunk girl even though she lived 10 miles away and the accident occurred 6 miles away)!

The Alfa 156 will likely be close to £900 this year.

Oh and no claims bonus; what a joke insuring that does!

Actually my postcode is roughly the same. I have literally moved down the street.

My quote for the GTS is now over £2k in a garage with 4,000 mile limit.

It is taking the Michael.

How you lot get a car insured for £200 is beyond me. Even insuring my bicycle costs nearly that!

Sorry that's insane

<£650 for both the GT and the 147, both driving both cars. 10k miles on mine, 6k miles on the GT

OK so the value is less, but really!

Over 2k....gees I don't pay that for 7 cars.....and I can have up-to 10 cars for the same price.

I pay £3,800 per year but that is with 14 cars. Broken down, the Disco is the most expensive line item. That'll teach JLR for having easy to crack keyless entry and spares under the car!

You may well discover one of your new neighbours has had 'issues', it doesn't take much these days, it is like flood risk, we are on a hill and at no risk whatsoever but the first two parts of the post code is at a slight risk so we get hammered there too!

The reason for increases in insurance premiums is down to the huge increase in insurance premium tax.

However, shop around and you can get a decent price, the renewal of my 4200 was nearly 900 quid (with zero ncb and just having 9 points removed).

I ended up going with A-Plan and got it for £600. More than happy with that.

I'm with A-Plan (Hiscox) Mark, they have been working on my renewal for a few weeks, knowing the issues from earlier in the year. I have to say they have put a lot of effort into it for me.

I'm impressed. It looks like they'll get my Merc as well.

My GTS is £390 Protected Fully Comp 8k miles with a traffic conviction still outstanding.
Happy with that. A-Plan at Thatcham.

I'm under a grand for all three. Parked on driveway, Mrs MLC has 2 years ncb so she owns the SEAT.
Putting a car in a garage tends to increase premiums, I've found.

I'll keep searching. Last year I tried A-Plan. They currently insure my Noble, but last year they wouldn't cover me as the value of the car was too high to be parked on the street! At least I think it was them that said that. Or maybe it was Admiral?
