Just spent nearly a million quid on a new garage for the Maserati and it wouldn't fit..............

We (well me really) wanted to move recently to a new house which had an integral double garage.
Found a house that fitted the bill, before making an offer, I carefully measured the door width and made 100% sure the GT would fit width wise through the door (It has twin doors) Fine with 2 inches to spare either side (with mirrors folded in)
Offer accepted, moved in, put the Maserati in for the first time (it fitted lengthways JUST, it is a huge car) but horror! Berkeley homes had built the garage with the main house drainage pipe and a half wall right where the car door would open. The car fitted in but I could not get out (or in) Jeez. In desperation (rather than move house again) I hacked off the boxing around the drainage pipe which means I can now just squeeze the car in the garage AND exit it....... Everyone now happy- wife has her new house and I have a nice garage complete with a power point for the mandatory C-Tek and dehumidifier to stop the subframe turning to dust overnight...6254162542

That’s a bummer with a soil stack in the middle like that, but at least you were able to get the car through the opening!
I had to rip off one of the garage doors and grind off 100 mm brick on one side of the opening to get my GTS in. I then fitted 2 sheets of OSB as a temporary door.
The garage will be taken apart in the spring, extended and refurbished, complete with one large 8 meter wide sectional roller door.

We built an extension with new garage before we bought the GC. Our S5 would fit ok .However no chance with the Masser... too long, I’d need to craft a nose cone for the garage door...

We moved at the tail end of last year and I was significantly influenced by the double length (45ft) and 1.5 width (I can park a car and get a motorbike alongside :))

This is what the Irish call a single garage but it will b e coming down to make way for a double width double length unit with room for ramp and office / store room / man cave above

When building mine, I ensured the garage doors were wide/big enough to accommodate an aventador... here’s hoping one day!!
At least the GT has plenty of room

Our house as a double under the house, but one side is shorter than the other due to a nice store room behind.
When we moved in I had the Stag on the long side, and my then Lotus Elise on the short side, no problem.
Sold the Elise and bought the Maser.
I knew the Maser would be too long for the short side, but never thought to check that the Stag would fit on the short side.
Brought the Maser home, and at that point was the first time I moved the Stag to the short side.
My heart nearly sank when I closed the garage door on the short side with the Stag parked up.
Front bumper touching the end wall (with thin piece of foam stuck to wall), and the sectional garage door came down missing the rear bumper by only half an inch!
If it hasn't cleared, don't know what I would have done!

My Fiancée and I have almost concluded a property purchase and I was clear that I needed (wanted) a 2 car garage. What I got was a garage used prior for a tall caravan and runs deep too which means I can get up to 3 cars inside if I get a car lift.

PS. I intend on purchasing sectional roller doors too :) and considering a 2 post lift too.

I bought ours with the same desire. Garage 8' 6" wide and long enough for the GT.

F@cking idiots fitted a standard 7' 6" door.
And an inward opening service door and 3' step down.

Bad enough reversing the Spider in 10 mm each side.
Being ripped and replaced with full width roller.
