Larini Manifold

Just got my car back from Larini after having their new exhaust manifold fitted.

Wow, what a difference this has made to the car. It is now on its toes immediately with much faster throttle response. Not too much difference in noise although the car now howls more like a F430.

The exhaust also looks like a piece of art. I am waiting for some photos from Dave at Larini and I will post in due course.

Not sure whether to sell the old manifolds and secondary section (ie the bit with the flat spot and secondary cats) as it would be shame to take the larini bits off the Gransport in the future if I ever sell the car.

Look forward to seeing/hearing these. I would keep the bits and put them back on when sale time comes.

I think you are right as the bits are probably not worth too much. Eurospares said that would provide me with a price once I send them a photo of the old parts.

Hi Hedgetrimmer, what have you done down stream of the sports manifold? It it Larini all the way back?

just spoke to Haroon - by the sounds of it, if there's no issues / CELs etc with hedgetrimmers set up ( no names mentioned but I'm assuming you're the mule mate) they'll have a "product" early next year.... anyone else interested?

Yep, if it doesn't come in at silly money I'll be seriously interested.

The cost of fitting Larini manifolds might be a bit more compared with other more accessible sections of the system eg sports cats, X pipes and back boxes.

I can remember these being brought up on Maserati Life, asking for a volunteer.
To be honest I can see the benefit for US owners with the primary cats in the manifolds, but not really the european manifolds, they appear pretty good as standard.
I know some european GS have US style manifolds, and the MCVictory however?
Infact I am suprised Maserati claim the same power output, the US manifolds look quite restrictive in comparison...

I am running the standard GS back boxes and centre section. I will probably swap to a Larini X pipe as well with the standard back boxes as my wife would probably not like the full system (its her car which I drive now and again)

My car was running the American set up which I think is pretty common in the UK. The reason for the change to the larini manifold was to remove the resitriction of the first set of cats as their location (so close to the engine) is poor for airflow. I also wanted to remove the risk of the engine ingesting the ceramic powder when the cats finally break up.

No CEl lights so far as the lambda sensors have been moved to behind the sports cats in the secondard section of the exhaust.

Its a 2006/ 56 plate with the two bolt fitment between the manifold and second section of the exhaust (US fitment).
