Great news!

I have just heard from Guy Villiet, the Gite owner and he now has a further 4 spaces available for the Le Mans Classics weekend as his long term let has now left. You will have to arrange your own ferry crossing but you are welcome to join us.

Its first come, first served, so be quick, and I believe Martin/Midlifecrissis is already planning to take a space or even 2.

The list:
Matt (Conaero)
Dave Rose
David Leach (DZOOMS)
Ken Howard
Dan (Granturismo_Dan)
Brenan
Ian Dover (Benny)
Ryan Dover
Nick (Nick P)
Nick's dad

I'm seriously looking into this. Even got permission from her in Mexico for time off! (I'm not even married yet but I have got her approval)
Just got to get time off from work and I'll need a co-driver. I'm looking at doing a 'short raid' as opposed to your 'long campaign'.
What I'm looking at is leave Thursday Night/ Friday Morning on the Poole or Portsmouth Ferry then return Sunday Night/Monday Morning. Share costs etc. That way I only need one or two days off work. The cost of the ferry is around £200 (Portsmouth Caen showing £168 at the moment and fuel isn't as bad as I thought around £100! I think!)

Ok, you might want to go to Cherbourg it's quicker too.

To be honest you will be mad going back on the Sunday the roads will be caos but happy to accommodate you if we can.

True, I remember from my biking days of leaving the MotoGP in France...I've just got to see what holidays I can get have in July. Might get the Monday off too. Speaking of which, do the locals stand out in all weathers to see the cars leaving like they do for the bikes?

Tickets available Le Mans Classic. This is repeated on another thread. I / we / the boss have decided to only attend Le Classic on the 06th as we are onward touring based at La Touanne and onto Reims and Lille. Anyway this leaves three general entrance tickets 7th and 8th + 1 x infield parking pass up for grabs for the 07th and 08th. If of interest please call me on 01293 825825 first to call offer ( £75.00 secures ) Buyer will have to meet us in Le Mans on the 06th in the afternoon when we are done walking around. Would be a shame to waste them for a great event.

Yeah really looking forward to this, fingers crossed the weather will be good. One stupid question, the picture you posted above is the front of the place we are staying or this is where to pick up the keys?

LE MANS CLASSICS 2012

Just mentioning "Le Mans" is enough to ***** up the ears of any motor racing enthusiast, so the opportunity to re-live past glories and view cars dating from 1923 to 1979 racing again on the famous Le Mans circuit is one not to be missed.

A Retrospective of one of the most mythical races in the world and the largest European car club gathering, the Le Mans Classic, has taken place every other year since 2002.

In 2010, 8,000 classic cars and more than 100,000 enthusiasts descended upon Le Mans to witness more than 400 competing cars, all of which had participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans between 1923 & 1979. They were divided, according to their age, into 6 grids, to take part in the race.

In Le Mans tradition, the start is on the Saturday at 15:00hrs and finishing on Sunday at 15:00hrs and a traditional Le Mans-style start precedes the formation lap.

Small point Matt,

I believe LeFroggy Plod require you to have two breathalysers - set to the Froggy limit which is lower than ours so if you have UK limit ones they will still assist you to empty your wallets... You can buy at UK ports for about £8-£10 a go or risk it to the first supermarket and get them with French writing all over them for less then £2 each.

Have a great time all of you!

......And perhaps some luggage.

I have but I make EasyJet look positively cheap by comparison for excess baggage.

You have 2 options:
1. Wear everything you have and bung your toothbrush in the cup holder
2. Have it shipped!
