I would have thought he had a friend on the other end waiting to put a bid in so it didn't sell.....

That would be the normal trick, but you'd expect there to be a single bid placed on it - otherwise he'd be gambling on the friend being quicker than someone else in the dying seconds! Oh well, I'm sure there are better 3200s out there for £13k than this one....
