I'll swing by and introduce myself at some point C, perhaps you can mention the 'big fella' coming next time you see him!

C, be careful how swingers introduce themselves, especially one calling himself 'the big fella'! ;)

I didn't know that was the way SM rolled... well, what can I say... Other than can someone lend me their car keys? I am woefully ill-equipped* for that kind of party.

* as regards keys, I hasten to add!

Yeah, it would be a rare pot that ended up full of Maserati keys...usually bank on being the only one there!

You wouldnt want to pick out a set of 3200 keys, you'd never get laid!

FAILED.
...on a steering rack gaiter being split...felt like getting the glue-gun out and sealing it up right there on the spot, but I guess it's a trip to the local Alfa garage to see if they have something in their parts bin!

Handbrake was purrrrfect...

It is more that Chris has just had all the setup done so to sod it all up taking the steering apart is a bit upsetting; tempting to go for an in-situ fix surely?

Yeah, thanks for the thoughts Newton. I don't really want to have to disturb all the nice alignment work that I paid 185 quid for if I can help it...

If they can actually do that and the guy will take it then I'm more than happy. There's a local Alfa guy round the corner so I'll go chat with him tomorrow, see what can be done. I didn't see if it was just split & can be glued or if its shredded and needs replacing.

You can buy split ones in kits, so you don't need to remove anything. I'm sure there will be one close to whats needed.

Flea-bay has almost everything...almost - just noticed this is a CV joint gaiter...not steering rack.

But this might make the process less painful, no re-alignment needed if done right, apparently.

Steering gaiter is different shape Chris, they are regular diameter for the main section not conical. Check on Eurospares drawings.
