Before and after
holy ****, that before is a MESS!

as for 0 toe stuart, I still assert that toe-out is bad. every time I've had a car aligned, it's toe that has drifted open (since cornering forces act to turn out the wheels) and toeing them back in makes the car feel so much sharper to me. just my gut feeling though.

either way, even if it did make turn-in slightly better, it's totally not worth making tires last literally half as long.

glad you got it all dialed in – I bet it felt like night and day.

Pretty much, yes. I think it's the same with many of these. If you're prepared to put in some time and money, you can keep iterating them to better and better.

I dearly love mine now, but really wish there were more opportunities to drive it!

I can only get Continental Sportcontact 6 on the front (245) and 5s on the rear (285) of my QP5. Is that less than ideal or is it irrelevant? Thoughts?

Thanks.

You should be able to get rear 6s from Camskill.co.uk. I got them from my local tyre place for a similar price. Weather has been rubbish so I haven't pushed them but no problem with a few possible aquaplaning situations.

The next ones below 6s are 5Ps which are good and then the 5s but the 5s are quite old now, maybe a different but newer brand for the rears would be a good idea...

Ok thanks, good to know. Not sure the SC6s have made it to Oz yet.

I've got a QP5 SportGT but the original owner ordered it with the 19" rims. Been chasing the correct 20" 7 spokes without success and avoiding buying tyres for as long as possible but I've got a rear puncture and they really need replacing anyway so I guess I'm keeping the 19"s.

So far I've found the Contis, Bridgestone Re050a, and Goodyear Eagle Assymetric 3s and 2s (front/back). I won't consider Pirellis and don't know much about Michelins or whether they are available here. More phone calls to make...

And the winner is... Kuhmo Ecsta LE Sport. Salesman said they were excellent and they seem to get good reviews. I've saved $600 or more all up so let's see what they're like. Will report back.

First impressions are that the ride is very smooth and quiet on the Kuhmos. Well pleased but haven't explored their limits, and don't plan to...

The trick to Kumhos is knowing where they were manufactured. They have factories in South Korea, Vietnam, China and USA. The Chinese ones are not as good and tend to be priced lower for their size against those made elsewhere, particularly Korea. I learned all this when offered a set very cheaply for Volvo !! There is a way to tell the country of origin, can't remember what it is but no doubt someone will be along shortly to tell you the codes etc required !!
