I imagine it's the same response on most of the forums , Chris Evans has a face for radio and a personality to match, he's just to irritating on TV , especially when you can hear clarksons lines coming out of his mouth delivered in the same manner.

The BBC should have re-launched the show with unknown presenters and a new format , bigger isn't better

Peter's comment about the Hollywood remake of a classic film is correct, you'll watch it because you enjoyed the original so much , in 10 years time when its all over and you want a bit of nostalgia it won't be this you turn on.

I would have been happier with a magazine type show where they test cars we actually might buy with the odd supercar thrown in.

Irritating CE shouting at a disinterested audience, GR being his usual self important self, a Woody Allen tribute act who only added to the boredom and MLB who clearly likes the pay check but can't quite hide his contempt. Pathetic copy of a true gem that is only now gaining it's true status even though there were a few turkeys.

Cor blimey, it seems as if I'm reading about a lot of grumpy old men. (But then, I missed the show yesterday so I'm stilled all hyped up from the marketing.)

I think Chris Evans needs to turn the volume up a bit, I could hardly hear what he was saying because he was speaking so quiet.

The review in the Guardian nailed it: "Matt LeBlanc is a natural at location filming, but Chris Evans needs to relax and stop trying so hard to be Jeremy Clarkson"

For me it was like a mate tipping up at dinner with a new wife, when the last wife was a lot of fun and good company and the new one is trying too hard.

Great analogy!

I recorded it and started watching it at around 10:30. I woke up to the end credits. Says it all, really.

Well at least you can tell people you watched it all the way through without having to put yourself through it again, must admit I probably snoozed a little too!

Clearly on my own with this!
I was a bit dissapointed there was not a bigger change in format, but given the international success of the previous its no real surprise. CE did seem to be trying a bit too hard but given the pressure he must be under I am not surprised by that either.

Neither CE or MLB looked anywhere as wooden, uncharismatic or naff as Clarkson, Hammond or May did in their first appearances on "Top Gear" and they had a good run. Ontop of this the last few series have been **** with only one or two bits thoughout the series being barely worth watching, not just my views but plenty of similar comments from others over the years - the presenters had past there "sell by date" on the show by at least two years!

Given the picture both new shows give for the complete top gear future I am still hoping for the best, but suspect plenty will not give it a chance!

Will have to watch this on my return but I don't have an issue with Matt or most of the others. I will wait to judge either way.

Started watching it this evening. Jeeeezzzz. Boring features. Bored audience.
Chris Evans shouting all the time.
Repeating everything to emphasise what he'd said.
It was like an American quiz show host.

Boring. Switched off after 26 minutes.

To summise, CE was trying too hard, MLB is not natural at presenting although I feel he can improve while Sabine was enjoyable.

I honestly fell to sleep half way through as I was expecting Eddie J and Chris Harris to get in on the mix. Overall, there is an air of oddness but I'm sure everyone will naturally gravitate toward their own characters without the obvious shortcomings.

Never liked CE on the box, fine on radio but he just doesn't work when I can see him.

MLB is obviously a petrolhead and despite his upbringing I think we might come to like him.

The material wasn't great, although I would love a Nomad, and the spark between them isn't there but then again it wasn't when the the original 3 started. I will give it a few more shows but CE will never be something enjoy watching. Oh and it was obvious where they cut his voice overs as apparently he has trouble driving and talking with out puking

I know it's not fashionable but I liked a lot of it and laughed quite a lot at Matt LeBlanc. I'm not sure I'd seek it out each week, I never used to watch the "old" Top Gear much.
