i've done a little digging for you.

The car was registered on the 3rd January 2013 so it should still be covered by the Maserati warranty until 2nd January 2016 I believe it was 3 years on the GT cars. You can extend the warranty with Maserati but you have to do it for 1 or 2 years in the months before the current warranty expires. You cant wait until it expires and then extend it.

Dealer states it comes with a 12 month MOT. So i assume they will MOT it in january 2016 for you when its due its first MOT.

The car has been off the road since April this year. No great shakes but it means its been in stock either at this dealer or another for nearly 4 months. That should give you room to negotiate on the price.

Lovely looking car. Hope you like it in the metal when you see it tomorrow.

Thank you for that...I've been looking at it for about a month so it does seem as if they have had it for a while. Do GTs take a while to sell in particular colour combinations? Most of them I see are black so is it something to be concerned about in the future? If I do buy this one ( and to be honest it's looking more and more likely) I will be extending the warranty with Maserati. Any idea on the price?

And I also wanted just to say many thanks to everyone...all the advice has been really helpful and you have made me feel very welcome. All being well I may just be the proud owner of that GT soon.

The warranty cost will be around £2500 for 12 months and £3500 for 24 months but the kicker is that its not a standard price by Maserati. The dealers can sell you the warranty at the price they set so its worth shopping around.

Sounds like your already smitten by the car so i wouldn't worry about the colour combination when selling on. Colours that are sought after now may well change in 3 years time. As long as its not a garish interior which this one isnt then i dont think you will have any problem. Certainly metalic grey and a black interior shouldnt cause any issues when or if you sell on in the future.

Welcome SM and the start of your Maserati journey ;)

It's the same colour combo as mine (the only difference being that I have Alcantara interior trim) and I think it looks stellar. If I'd bought new it would have been a toss-up between this and some shade of blue. To my mind it looks terrific and I can't see why it would put off the next buyer. Assuming you could ever bring yourself to sell it.

Re the warranty, WarrantyWise or Warranty Direct could probably do you something equivalent for less. Just make sure it includes wear and tear.

10 minutes of googling. Once I knew the registration then I could check on the DVLA site to see when the tax was cancelled.
Warranty information is on SM and other sites just took a bit of tracking down.

Tip for warranty wise. Ask them for a quote and don't book it. They then start sending you texts 2 to 4 weeks later offering 12 months for the price of 10 and various upgrades to the policy. I get two texts a month of them with codes to use to get the discount and upgrades.

Welcome. I've got the same car you are looking at albeit a 2011 model and not in black too!

There is some sound advice already given but regarding the warranty, I paid under £2500 to extend mine for two years last year. The warranty is priced in euros so it should cost less now. I would strongly recommend the extended Maserati warranty as it is very comprehensive - mind has paid for a new a/c compressor.

Warranty start dates with Maserati are not as obvious as you would think. Many start the date the car got it's PDI rather than it's registration so worth checking the service book to find out. It is hard to advise materially without knowing what you are coming from but be prepared to meet lots of people who are very enthusiastic about your new car.

Do they remind you or is it something that you need to remember to renew?

I never got a letter which is very different to my wife's Audi where we were bombarded with letters to extend the warranty (which we did not).

That said the car needed a service a couple of weeks before the warranty expired so I wrapped it all up in that.

Just got back from visiting the dealer and all I can say is what a car. Suffice to say I have put down a deposit and all being well I will be the proud owner of a GT next week. Car was in perfect condition and just so impressive.

Great friendly dealer as well and even managed to knock them down on price. Apparently it was on the market for £68K until recently which is far too high but the price I got was much more reasonable. Just got to wait for the finance guy to phone me back on Tuesday to finalise paying for it and then it's all mine. Cannot wait.

Congrats on your purchase. You've just joined the bitten and smitten club. You can expect a sleepless night next week and using imaginary flappy paddles between now and then. ;)

The worst part is that even when I take ownership of the GT we are going on holiday on Saturday so it's going to be sat there awaiting collection when we return. That holiday is going to be tough.

It'll be your most frustrating holiday ever!

Great news you fell for it. Not surprised. It looks tremendous in the pictures. Well done.

Money all sorted and papers signed. Even the wife had a test drive in it and she loved it. I'm going to have some fun when I get back from holiday.

Well al I can say is what a car...I picked my GT up on Monday and drove it back and have spent the rest of the week getting used to driving it and showing it off to my friends and family. The amount of positive comments from people when they see it is unreal...it does seem as if everyone loves a Maserati. With the weather being patchy here in Southampton I haven't had a chance to get some good shots but when we get some nicer weather I will take them and post them here.

I do have a question though and that is are the fans quite noisy normally? When I'm idling in traffic with the windows down I can hear them come on to cool the engine. I have searched through the forum and notice that there are a couple of threads about a resistor that might need changing but if the fans are normally quite loud and noticeable I don't need to worry...right?
