Just stuck on, not Maserati's best moment but for me it's not really a deal breaker if the car is a nice example.

One of the biggest downsides for me on the GS is the revised dash/centre console. The 4200 facelift seems much nicer and more cohesive to me. Not sure the GS has moved forward for the better for me. Just wish the decent facelift 4200's were a little better value at upto £20k rather than looking like £20k plus. Was planning on putting £10k on top of my Boxster that will go for £10k.

There a few who prefer the interior of the 4200 to the GS.......YOu will get a face lift for under 20k....certainly in a private sale but because there are not many around will juts have to wait until one comes up....Don't think you will have to spend over 20k...They do come up.......

The brake callipers on the vintage pack were silver but with all things Maserati you could have what ever colour you wanted when ordering the car new...

I prefer the 4200 dash to the GS one as well, I actually prefer the whole interior. I think the GS is just trying too hard from a styling perspective, surf boards, seats, console etc. it takes away from the original design which I think is one of the best around. As always horses for courses.

Maserati has a habit of getting design right from the off on a model range and then getting over complicated later on as it trys to improve on something which was very good from the off.

The two things I'd change about the classic interior are the ******* **** stupid *** ******* excuse for a stereo (NIT...in the arm rest? Give me a break! DIN-DIN-DIN all the way, please?) and the ashtray where the cup-holder should have been. Oh, and all those tucks and creases just seem like magnets to dust, but I'll forgive that.

The facelift got half-way there. Other than that it's a lovely place to be.

Agreed with the GS. Start button? How "Aston".

I really like this 4200. However it is a bit top heavy, especially when you notice the wear on the driver side bolster.
Which considering it's a 22 grand motor is very out of place. You would have thought they would have got it addressed before trying to sell it at 22k!

It's hard to avoid that on cars that are a decade old. Have seen worse and I am sure if could be materially improved if you like the car.

I guess it is hard to have a 9/10 year old car with no or very little wear and am not too fussed about that. I agree that from a dealer at top retail money I would have expected this to have been prep'd better on this point. The rest of the car looks very good and for a little cash it would have been pretty easy to resolve this or make it much less of an obvious issue.

I must interject here...I would rather see the wear and have it fixed be me properly than have the dealer do it on the cheap by spraying it with elasticated paint which flakes off a month later...use that as a bargaining point.

Fair point. OK if the dealer has or will do it properly but no good if they botch it. If a job is worth doing.....

All valid points. My point is if you're asking top money for a car, you expect it to be in top condition.
With repairs mention being done to a high standard.

Agree Geoff...I would expect it to be sorted before its put on sale when asking top money......When I get in and out of mine I never rub against the side bolster...always put my hand over it to protect it and stop that sort of wear...My car is 10 years old and no wear at all.

Same with my GT, there's very little wear on the bolster and it 9 years old. If it did, I'd get it repaired properly.

Agreed the stereo is useless in just about every way but there is a much better sound system that comes with Maserati.

Don't get the need for cup holders, I was always told don't drink & drive as you are likely to spill some ;)
